How much Ram do you have for your games

Mmm.. In that case i'm going to hold off upgrading. One of my mates mentioned that i have no need to upgrade my ram unless I'm planning to make Toy Story... oh well.

Just trying to make my applications and games run faster. But If 4GB is ample then thats cool. Are there any programs out there which can record how much RAM is being used for a game during the last say past 3 hours?

Corsair DDR3 1333mhz is my ram btw.

8gb here. Only went from 4gb to 8gb because:

it cost me £40 to do so
I never think about RAM usage and won't have to touch it for as long as I have a s775 setup.
If I stayed at 4GB there is a chance that in a year or 2, if I still have this setup, DDR2 prices will have gone through the roof in the same way that the last 2 generations of RAM did

I have no idea why everyone screams saying you need4gb for vista it's absolute tosh.

M'kay...

I will be upgrading to 4gb soon as It should give a nice boost.

So there is no need for it, but you are going to upgrade anyway for a performance boost??

Personnally, I have 6GB low-latency PC6400, but I've just order 8GB PC8500 (faster speeds are better than lower latencies on Core 2). And as someone else said, I'm not moving up to i7 for 18months or so, so I'm buying now before prices start heading north...

Hmm.. i'm learning something new everyday. Why would ram prices go up? I'm guessing it will be more expensive in the long run to reproduce 'older' ram?

In that case, as soon as my ram goes on offer @ TWO i will buy it I suppose unless someone suggests otherwise.

Moved from 3 gig XP to 8 gig Vista, noticed a hige difference in game load times. Could have something to do with my new card as well though - from an 8800GTS to a 4870. Must say absolutely no issues with Vista, I would add I think ill leave windows 7 to bed in for at least a year so it was worth me getting vista now. The price of DDR2 these days makes the difference between 8gb and 4gb negligible.

8GB on my main computer running Vista x64, which I managed to pick up for £25 in total because the website listed the ram price incorrectly for about an hour but still had to honour the price I brought it at:)
4GB in my 2nd computer running XP x86 and Windows 7 x64

When the majority of fabrication plants are producing DDR3+ (which will happen soon enough) DDR and older will become gradually more expensive, because it will be slightly more expensive to manufacture, but also as the market is smaller the OEMs can get away with charging more. Eg. 1GB PC3200 is more expensive than 1GB PC6400 currently.

I'd don't reckon prices will shoot up in a number of weeks or even months, but DDR2 prices aren't going to get much cheaper. So you don't have to buy now, but if you spot a good deal, take it.
