When you take a girl out....

on my last first date, I went shopping to Westfield when it had just opened. We just walked around and tried on designer clothes didn't buy anything then ate at nando's.

I suppose it comes down to if you think the girl will care where you take her.

I don't think the choice is as important as the company. What you don't want is for the girl to want future dates with you because she thinks you are loaded and will buy her loads of stuff. Therefore if you take her somewhere nice but modest if she asks you out again its because she wants you, not your wallet.

Well that was my opinion anyway.

There is method behind his madness :D

Last time I took a girl out, we went to Frankie & Benny's. Nice atmosphere, not terrible food and normally close to other entertainment so can go and catch a film afterwards.

Well, if it's what you feel comfortable with and both of you will enjoy then I don't see the problem with going somewhere which is reasonably decent.
I think I'd be doing something different if I didn't go to these places as they are where I like to go anyways and if the person I was taking would be likely to enjoy it then it's a winning situation.

I think going somewhere really shabby won't damage your chances as such, but I know that if I was on the recieving end and during the friends' interrogation after they might feel a bit ashamed as they're worried their friends will judge.

I think I would avoid going to Michelin Star places for the first few, just as they are 'special' places which should be saved for occasions. Other than that, it just depends on what you and her are comfortable with :)

I went to the weatherspoons with my gf for our first date, then walked her to mc donalds so I could get some chicken nuggets. 4years together, still going strong lol

We went for a walk around the park and to mcdonalds for our first date. You can get to know somewhere anywhere. Why spend lots of money when you can just have as much fun slumming it? :)

I'm with Fox on this one, first real date I went on with my gf we went to the cinema, then Pizza Hut after :D

We were 16 at the time though, and I hope Fox was of a similar age when he took her there :p

I think it's fine as long as you let her know that it's not going to be a regular thing. Something like 'How about we go somewhere posh, just as a little treat?'

If a guy took me somewhere fancy on a first date, I wouldn't automatically assume it was going to be a regular occurrance. My bf took me to a harvester on our first date, and they weren't even serving food at the time as they had no gas! But I didn't assume that he was a cheap skate

My first date with my other half was a harvester too :D

Well that's what she says, although I take the official first date as when she drove us to macdonalds after a revision session.

Classy lady I have ;)

The first place i ate with current gf is mcd's, but that wasnt really a date more of hi how are you.

first actual date though we went to a local resteraunt, wasnt too cheap or expensive but food was really nice, been togeather 7 months now.

I took a girl to the zoo once for a second date once, had a great day at the zoo but it was our last date... So guessing that's a fail!

I'd go somewhere thats you're comfortable being. I tend to take mine to beefeater/harvester/frankie and bennies why? Because I like Steak. Its somewhere thats I feel my self and can act naturally. Impress her by who you are. Not where you go.

I went to pizza hut on my first date with my GF. I also used a buy one get one free voucher.

i really wish i could say i haven't done that.
maybe thats why i'm still single lol.
seriously my approach is be honest with yourself, if you like the girl why not. but then i am somebody 'too' honest.

The best thing about London is learning about all the "hidden secret" little restaurants and cafés that are about. Great food and a cosy atmosphere without being in an overbearingly expensive or posh surroundings. (I.e. you didn't go overboard)
