I have lost my Vista Ultimate dvd is there any way to purchase a new dvd without having to buy a new licence, £200 price puts me off as its just the disc needed, has to be genuine dvd though, thanks for any help offered.

Hi, I never made my op as informative as I should have, When I bought my Vista Ultimate I got it from the bay and I messaged them to make sure it was retail which they said it was but when I got it it was an oem 32 bit and should have been 64 bit at least. When I mailed to tell them they were no longer members and I am not sure how they did this, I asked the bay and there was nothing they could do as they no longer had an active paypal or bay account
Now I would like the 64 bit os do I have to buy another or is there any way around this but it must be a legal way as I do not have any thing to do with all this illegal downloading and patching stuff. Any help really appreciated, thank you.

same thing happened to me (more or less)
just raise a complaint with paypal to get a refund

I wish I had VoG's link at the time, when I looked at getting alternative media it seemed like an awful lot of hoop jumping was involved.

only don't do what I did and trust your wife to get a tracking number when sending the disk back,
she came back without one and paypal just dropped my complaint.

Trouble is it was not a cheap buy I paid £175 for it as did 9 other people who have had the same problem as me thinking it was retail and getting a blooming oem 32 bit  I contacted a few of the other buyers to find out and see if they were happy or not and most of them had complained to the bay.

Perhaps you could try this?

https://om.one.microsoft.com/opa/Va...b60dda37db1&LocaleCode=en-us&JavaScriptOn=yes

It says 'Customers may also exchange Windows Vista bit version software.' I think that terribly-written sentence means that you could swap a 32-bit OEM disc for a 64-bit one. (It'll still be OEM, so installing it on a different machine will violate the license, etc.)

On clicking the link it just says your order cannot be completed at this time, Is there another way around it please..

Aren't the OEM and Retail keys different, they were for XP so it would be no go.

TBH I'd get Microsoft on the case as they take a dim view of things like this, I'd also get back to Paypal to re-open the case and lastly if you paid using Paypal via a credit card then get onto the credit card company as they should be able to get your money back even if Paypal take the easy route out.

Thanks all for the help and advice, I will try paypal again also my credit card company, and I may try to email MS to see if any thing happens.

Make sure when you open/re-open the case with Paypal that you tell them that if you get no joy from them you'll be going to your credit card company, that normally makes then sit up and listen but at the same time contact your credit card company.
