U2 are the biggest band in the world...? Based on what?
I think the Beatles beat U2 to every record going. Not bad for a band that was only around for 10 years, and split up 6 years before U2 even got together.
the Beatles don't exist any more mate, and granted they were a bigger band, I'm a big fan, it was 8 years they were together recording and i doubt the world will see anything like them again. however they were mostly a pop band in from 1963 - 1966 when they built up the main fan base, unlike most pop bands today the the Beatles took there fan base and as the young teenage fans grew so did the Beatles music.
modern day boy bands churn out the same stuff giving them a limited time span, Take That recently came back with a more mature album (not that i'm a fan) and managed to pick up there old audience which was quite an achievement.
what U2 have achieved for what is fundamentally a rock band is pretty amazing, the last album before this had 3 number 1's and for a chart that is dictated by a young audience for a ageing rock band to continually produce number 1 albums and singles and dictate the airways like radio 1, 2, 3 and 4 did the week of release says something about them. Not to mention the 22 Grammys U2 have won which i believe is a record.
you don't have to be a fan of man utd to see they are great team, same goes for music
