Jade dies

Hedge, who gives a **** how the media works? People should be able to form their own opinions and not just echo condolences because someone's face has been plastered over the red tops and OK magazine for the past few months.

Exactly. People die. It's called nature. Someone dies somewhere in the world every two seconds (or so they say), we are all only here for the blink of an eye considering the planet has been here for several billion years.

So let's move on, shall we?

What a tw*t

People die all the time and we dont know about it. My granny died 10 years ago and i dont expect you to be more upset about her than you were about Jade. It doesnt make her death any less.

She was a public figure. She died. Its very sad. I feel for her family and children. End of story.

How did princess Di's death make you feel?

Im not saying that everyone should do that, what im saying is that every time someone famous dies and a thread gets made on this forum, people start harping on about how many no named people die every day and why dont they get media coverage.

its quite a simple concept. people who live in the media.. die in the media.

people who dont live in the media.. dont.. nothing unusual or suprising about that.

So I dont get why people keep going on about that every time.

I feel sorry for the kids, especially with today being mothers day.

But perhaps now they can get a decent upbringing...?

Another moronic comment. The whole *thousands die every day* thing is a pile of crap. Some people are deemed more newsworthy than others because they lead more interesting lives than others.

A newspaper would be impossible to print if we wrote tales about every person that died every single day.

Why people even say this is beyond me. Just accept that the Media works like this.. it always has and always will

It doesn't make it unquestionable, though  Just like some people argue that, say, the genocide in Darfur gets too little media coverage, some will argue (not me, I might add) that the deaths of people like Jade get too much. The media hardly guarantees a correct balance.

Because you should have respect for the dead regardless of what you thought of them. It's just good manners.

So if you had no respect for her when she alive you automatically have to switch your position when she croaks? Why, what's she done to earn any respect? If she wanted respect then she should have died in private and not flogged her death to the highest bidder.

Because you should have respect for the dead regardless of what you thought of them. It's just good manners.
Why exactly is that? We do not know this woman, do you think people should only ever say positive things of the dead? Regardless of whether they were Jade Goody or a serial killer?

Because you should have respect for the dead regardless of what you thought of them. It's just good manners.

That applies across the board does it? A blanket statement? So it applies to Hitler? and Fritzl, Jon Venables and Robert Thompson when they die? Terrible people, but you know, I wouldnt want to show bad manners by slating them, I do have to show respect of the dead regardless of what I thought of them of course.

I did ;)

So society has made her a star? Well she's worked it well hasn't she? Where are the rest of the BB contestants?

My bad then ;)

Rest of the BB contestants? Guess they were just too intelligent to be of interest to the British public I guess...

Respect is one things, turning a blind eye to the truth is something else...

I think its mightly sad that her kids have lost their mum on mothers day.

Strangely the girl I'm dating at the moment seems to think she was some sort of inspiration

I don't get it, but we aren't close enough for me to have a major disagreement just yet so I'm keeping quiet :P
