Homeless people

i wouldn't give a beggar money though, i'd happily go and buy them some food / a hot drink though, and have done before.

This is far better than giving actual cash, I've actually got food for a so called starving person and all they did was say thanks and hold it, waiting till I go so they could chuck it. There are others who appreciated it and ate, I couldn't eat a massive meal while someone begs for food and giving money means they could easily waste it.

Items such as gloves, food, drink, clothes, etc are far better and useful.

There is a homeless man in Bristo,l who sells the big issue, that I always (read: "sometimes") give money to. He is always saying "ah, it is such a beautiful day, the sun is shining, everyone is happy :D".

He resides on the Triangle near Natwest. What a hero!

Whenever you actually talk to him, it is clear he is on another planet. But he seems a nice guy :)

You can be homeless without sleeping on the streets. There are dozens of hostels in every city housing people who have no home.

In which case they'd be eligible to claim whatever benefits the government deem fit for them as they then have an address. So why would they be out begging?

This happened recently in my town... Click
A HOMELESS man has gone missing after arsonists torched the tents of at least five people while they slept – before attacking them with knives as they fled the burning camp.
It made me feel extremely sick.

Homeless people is a touchy subject for me.

Where i am there are a LOT of "homeless" who stagger upto you in the street with excuses ranging from "i need 50p for my bus" to "can you give me a quid for the phone box" - these are the ones who make my blood boil because its obvious they are off there faces and are simply beggin to feed any number of habits, and normally i could let this go but sometimes they swear at me when i say no....the stones to do that staggers me!.

The worst though is though guy who claims to be a "travelling poet"!!, actually puts his hands out to stop me and goes through all this speech about how he wants to "sing for me"...i told him to **** off and so many people glared at me....simply doesnt make sense.

But then theres the flip side of the coin, because some people are genuinelly homeless who half the time just want a bite to eat.

But as with most things like this, how can you tell the ones worth trying for from the ones that arent??, simple, i just turn my ipod up and keep walking.

Shameful?, probably but i dont feel duty bound to do anything else...

They are all worth helping and we donate to:

There are other organisations around the UK like this, so if you can help a little. :)
