Biggest disappointment for me in gaming for a long, long time...

It isn't hard to swap, just set guns to certain axis on the d-pad inventory then from then on press that direction to equip. It doesn't pause because it is a coop game, would be dull, annoying and confusing if it paused every time your partner went into their inventory screen.

fair enough but after playing other 3rd person games such as mass effect and gears of war the controls feel awful.

I'm really liking Resi 5 on co - op, havent even tried it single player yet as I don't see sheva's AI being up to much.

Totally broken game in single player, probaby the most fun co-op game i've played in years. It didn't last long, but while it did me and a mate had great fun.

It's not RE, though.

I've played it through 3 times already. Took me months and months to drag myself through Resi 4, loved the first 2, but never got round to playing 3 or the other spin offs.

Because this game is supposed to be different compared to those? And Resident Evil 4 was a huge inspiration for Gears of War itself. Not all 3rd Person Shooters have to be the same and there have been loads of them for more than a decade.

IMO the game would be far better if they had changed two things:

1. Allow the character to move slowly while aiming, basically the same setup as Dead Space

2. Make it so the enemies no longer suddenly slow down when they get close to you

The idea of making you unable to move while aiming is sound, it increases the feeling of pressure when trying to take down an enemy as he approaches. Problem is the moment he gets near to you and suddenly stops running then starts slowly walking towards you it ruins all sense of pressure, urgency or fear. The ability to move while aiming would offset the increased difficulty created by the enemy continuing to run at you, even when close.

I bought it for co-op only if I’m honest, I lost track/care about the story a long time ago on the last RE game I played – got to the Iceland bit on the Dreamcast version, then stopped playing.

As for RE 5, it’s fun enough, as I said I’m playing for co-op only so having a mate handy is a good laugh and it’s something that feels a little different to the usual co-op. But I was hoping for zombie hordes, and it didn’t delivery, it also has (so far) one really stupid boss – and the bike riding ‘zombies’ were a bit pants.

Hey ho, I’ll continue playing it through and will no doubt keep it in my collection, as we’re bound to have a further play-through at least.

Scort.

I love the new path that RE has taken, especially the coop aspects, and hope it continues into the new plot arc in RE6 :)

I don't. Babysitting that AI on anything but the easiest difficulty is an exercise in pain and futility itself. Mandatory coop is one of the worst ideas brought to the series. Half the boss fights don't even work the way they're intended to. I will wager that very very few people has completed single player on the two highest difficulties. Very few. If RE6 continues the tank controls, it will get such a good hiding it'll be unbelievable and interesting to watch in a schaudenfraude kind of way, much like it has been for RE5.

My only disappointment for Resident Evil 5 is Albert Wesker. I won't spoil it for people who have not completed the game yet, but all I will say is that after all the time he has been making appearances through the Resident Evil games, is this really it?

Pretty sure you just spoiled it.

I am currently playing on the default difficulty, and yes some enemies do stop after they run upto you, bu tI also notice quiet a few of them run straight upto me and attack me, none of this slowing down that is being mentioned.

im actually pleasantly surprised by re5... i was caught in the hype, then again i was caught in the bashing of re5 and lost a little interest but after playing for a bit i have really enjoyed it!

has to be played with a friend though, i havent treid it on my own yet. its like a better version of army of two, but i guess i was one of the few that actually liked that game though i did play that entire game on co-op :p

Been trying to get into the RE5 demo myself. Decided to give it a miss after all. I would love a game to come out similar to the old REs with slow moving zombies in a creepier setting (i.e. dark!). How about a slower version of Left 4 Dead? Not that there's anything wrong with L4D as is.
I would probably pick up RE5 if one of my pals was playing it too for co-op but I think I will pick up Dead Space instead.
