Managed to get hold of a full milltek stainless steel exhaust system for the VXR. Retails at well over £700, but i managed to pick one up 2nd hand for considerably less. When combined with the fact i sold the standard exhaust to somebody from the Vectra-C forums for the same money, it made it a £0 mod.

Anyway, tailpipes before :

and after

But thats not the real reason for fitting. The milltek system is 2.5 inches, and removes the centre cat and silencer. It still retains the first pre-cat so is MOT legal. But this makes it sound lush, and in theory should help the engine rev more easily as well as maybe a very small power increase. Will find out at the RR in may.

But anyway, onto the best bit.

loving the pops and bangs on the overrun. When giving it the beans it just sounds awesome. Cant overstate how chuffed i am :D

A guy at work has a Vectra VXR and I was shocked at how good it sounds on the standard exhaust! Bet that Milltek sounds awesome!

You say the Milltek system is 2.5", what bore is the standard exhaust?

no idea, but looking at the standard item that came off, i think its the same.

I wouldnt say the sound is amazing, its nice though.

But seen as the mod cost diddly squat, who cares! Deal of the week in here!

Your number plate is wonky :)

Not much i can do about it. I drilled the hole myself and was a few mm out.

Not going to go buying another plate cos its a few mm out. You never notice it when walking up to the car or anything.

to be honest, the videos carp. Full of wind noise and taken on a digial camera, not a proper video camera. But it does sound lovely irl.

He could still use sticky pads -edit: doesn't want to buy a new plate, nevermind!

Anyway, love the sound of these. My mate had a decat on his VXR and that alone was enough to get it popping and banging and generally sounding mental.

MrLOL

If possible, at the RR day, I would like to bugsy a passenger ride :)

And to return the favour your welcome to come out in my car if you wish too.

looks good, does it need remap after removing cat ?

i would fix numberplate as wonky things = bad, either slot right hand hole a little, or if it needs too much just stick it on and then glue on plastic bolt heads to fake the mounting. jobs a goodun :)

no remap required

but the theory is, that with a decat exhaust you lose back pressure, which in turn can lead to a slight reduction in torque, but gain in bhp (least thats what im told)

But a remap will help you get back your lost torque as it adjusts the ECU for the reduced back pressure
