Anything worth knowing about Battlefield 2?

After reading this thread i'd went and order BF2 as the Complete Edition was only £7 and i'd been after a good multiplayer FPS.

I was just wondering if there's anything i should know about it before playing? Just stuff like mods and fan made maps that have become popular and what have you.

I have some info about classes... Be support! Its an easy way of getting points, just throw random ammo bags all over the place, and when you finally get the pkm its really powerful and has a great range! another good class is medic. I dont really rate any of the other classes very much to be honest...watch your back too, being knifed can be quite embarassing :p sniper is only good imo when you finally have the l96a1.
 
There's a levelling system online, as you go up ranks you get unlocks (COD4 and BF2142 use a similar system), so as you play more you get access to better equipment.
 
Ah right.

Whats COD4 like online? I complete the single player at a mates house but didnt get a chance to play online.

Pretty good but fully of suicide bomb perk abusers etc, I got bored after playing it for an internal work competition over about 6 months.
(we got to 4th place out of about 50 shops though so I was happy!)
 
It will take a while to get use to BF2, there's people who are still playing it from the day the game come out! so very tough competition!

When you first get it, on server filter untick ranked servers and look for a servers with the name "noob" in them, just so you can get a feel for game

make sure you download the 1.41 patch which is needed

and start off as a medic, easy guns to use and you can get points quicker.....then start using other kits as you get more experienced!

o and have fun wasting 6 months of your life gaming :p
