I have ordered this, was highly recommended to me whilst I was in hospital last week.

one of the best films you're ever likely to see, if you dont mind the odd voilent scene. very gritty and real, excellently acted all round and has a profound underlying message

I'm in two minds about this film. Its very entertaining and fun to watch but it's message is ultimately nonsense and it is contrived and shallow.

I don't mind violence so long as the context is right. This film is 10 years old ! I wonder how this slipped under my radar.

American History X is a good film, although I'd have to admit it has been a long time since I watched it. From what I recall it may be violent but there is a strong storyline and message to it which requires the level of violence that is present convey the point.

Is there though?

There are occassional bursts of violence but its not gory and its pretty infrequent. You don't even see the guy's head get busted open on the pavement.
