Hoping to get rid of talktalk this week as the internet is useless with them now.

Want to switch to either TitanADSL or Fast.co.uk.

Now TT refuse to give me a mac code, they hung up last time i tried (last week) then when I rang again they didnt know who I was, and im pretty sure im speaking to the same person. Is there any Act like the DPA etc I can quote to them to make sure i recieve a mac code ?

Also, These ENTA resellers say they offer "Enhanced Care" in partnership with BT for £15 a month extra. Has anyone used this care service and is it worth paying for over "Standard Care" ?

Thanks!

If your on Talktalk's LLU product then you dont need a MAC code, you need to first of all get your line back to BT (Return to Donor) by phoning BT and arranging the transfer. The chances of retaining the telephone number are slim but not impossible I'm led to believe.

Once you've been transferred back apply to your next ISP with your 'bare' line and new telephone number.

Yep, otherwise they'd keep charging him more than likely. Dont just cancel the direct debit either, which people have a habit of doing.

Oh forgot to mention to the OP, the 'Enhanced Care' is if you get a line fault - the SLA to fix it is much shorter - however on a residential service its a little pointless.

Only reason to have it is if you work from home, however for a little more a month you could have another BB line and a dual WAN router for redundancy.

It's interesting the speeds that some ISP's blame on BT. I have 7.8mbit from Titan which will be going to ADSL2 later this week, but my neighbour only gets 2.2mbit from his ISP as he is "too far from the exchange". Strange as we are connected to the same pole.

im not on LLU im still on a BT line. Can only get 2.5mbit apparently.

Do you pay the extra £15 per month as your not on an LLU line, if not your more than likely on LLU.

If your internet connection is via BT's equipment (check your exchange by putting in your postcode here http://www.samknows.com/broadband/checker2.php), then Talktalk cant refuse to give a MAC code. Raise a complaint if so, if they are giving you the run around.

Sounds like your pal is still on the 2Mb IPStream product with his ISP, a competent ISP should be able to change him over to ADSL-Max to enable upto 8Mb like your line.

If they refuse, just raise a complaint and change ISP.
