Coin identification/medals and other bits..

Bit more digging shows that they were part of the Highland Light Infantry.

Not to confuse myself, and everyone reading, but it would appear there are links with either one person or two, who fought in South Africa as part of the 1st Argylls? and then in the First World War. My mother-in-law has this khaki cloth with a written inscription on it wishing this guy luck over in South Africa in 1901. It's quite moving. I'm not sure if it is the same chap - I do know that the guy who had those dog tags was well into his thirties or even later when he was serving so it could have possibly been the same guy.

The HLI were part of the Second Boer War in SA.

Although I can only find that the 1st Bat of the Argylls were formed 1881 but no battle honors were given untill ww1, will keep looking tho.

Ta again..

It suggests some family member was involved in the conflict here:- 1899 - 1902 Modder River, Paardeburg, during the Boer War, South Africa. But I can't find out who at the mo.
