Not sure which board to post this in as it RAM & MOBO related!

Building a new PC based on ABIT IP35 PRO XE board and just put some Corsair value RAM in it - PC2 5300

Im getting a C1 error on the POST screen on the mobo which is memory related.

Have i been daft and got RAM that wont run in that particular mobo?

Thanks :)

Probably not, but what you might find is that memory needs more than the default voltage to boot.

How many sticks have you installed? Try just 1 stick in slot 1 and see if you can get to the bios screen.

Hmm, just looked and it seems that memory only needs 1.8v.

Are you certain it is seated correctly?

What memory if any were you using before?

Have you tried reseting the CMOS?

I had a C1 error when I first booted up my IP35 Pro XE system with 2x1GB OCZ PC2-8500 in it. Turns out it just didn't like this RAM, and it booted fine with a spare 1GB stick of Team Elite I keep for testing and again with 2x2GB Crucial PC2-6400.

However, while researching the C1 error briefly, it seems some people think it can also be caused by video card problems, so perhaps reseating and checking the graphics card connections might also be in order, or testing with a spare card if you have access to one?

i have built 2 systems today with identical specs and i get the asme error on both of them!

Cant be coincident that oth machines have the same errors surely?

Tried with simgle RAM sticks and with / without graphics cards but no joy.

I read that it could be mis-seated CPU cooler but i dont really buy that noting the error code!

Tommorow is not going to be a good day! My boss is not going to be happy with me as they are work PC's!!

what CPU?

E1400 is the CPU.

Will try another stick of RAM from another PC at PC-6400 spec and see if that sorts it. At least then i will know if its the RAM sticks or not.

A thought on the side is will the PC boot with no RAM sticks in so i can enter the BIOS to check voltages??
