He took the club from the third division to top half of the Premiership. Didn't he also finance the stadium himself?

I'd happily go see Spurs play at the DL Stadium if our chairman paid for the new stadium himself!

It's his stadium, he owns it along with Wigan AFC. He no longer owns the JJB sports chain so why would he continue to call his stadium the JJB stadium? He can do whatever he wants. There are plenty of cringeworthy stadium names around the world.
 
He owns it along with the council. If Wigan rugby didn't sell their old ground to Tesco then the JJB Stadium would never have been built.
 
I love him, the rugby fans hate him but when Wigan RL were riding high in the 80s 90s they didnt want to know about Wigan Athletic and wouldn't let them play on their ground and they treated the Wigan football fans like scum so now the boot is on the other foot they dont like it :D

He has put so much into the town, sold the JJB firm in 2007 and now it could go into administration, he can call the stadium what he likes.

Wigan rugby has been in decline for years, poorly run team that buys fat old aussie players. Their fans think they can fund and build their own stadium for the rugby, lulz.
 
Like I said earlier, almost half of the cash for the JJB Stadium came from the sale of Central Park and not a lot came from JJB Sports or Wigan Athletic. Therefore the Latics would still be at Springfield Park probably.
