I saw these nutters supporting Lamb Of God and was well impressed, but they have 9 albums which I don't fancy buying so can anyone tell me what the best 3 are?

After listening to songs on myspace im getting 'In Sorte Diaboli' so need more suggestions.

thanks

I've got a few albums, but they're not a particular favourite of mine, i go through phases of thinking they're ok.

Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia is regarded as one of their best, Stormblast is pretty good and Enthrone Darkness Triumphant :)

I'd go with the above. I don't listen to a huge amount of Dimmu, but listen to some now and then, when Im in the mood, but the range they have covered is staggering, traditional black metal to much more symphonic elements. Symphonic Black Metal...you know there's just something perverse about that!

Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia is probably their most accessible album while maintaining some edge.

Never been a massive fan or anything, but apparently Stormblast is regarded as their best.

Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia

This is the only album of theirs I can listen to without getting totally bored. Black metal has never done it for me in spite of my trying time and time again to get into it.

Yes I know, DB don't represent true black metal anymore. Yawn.

puritanical.... and spiritual black dimensions are my favourite older ones with death cult armageddon and in sorte diaboli being the newer ones on my favourite list. check out youtube and see what you like.

In Sorte Diaboli was ****, I used to be really into Dimmu but then I started getting into Emperor, who are by comparison much better and more varied. Emperor did move away from the traditional black metal sound but it has all been good stuff, I haven't found another band with such atmospheric music.

Anyway the Dimmu albums I preferred were;
Death Cult Armageddon
Godless Savage Garden
Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia

Oh and for some bands, Emperor especially... I found looking up the lyrics helped me enjoy the music a lot more, as obviously it can be very hard to understand what they are saying. It also helps that some of the Emperor lyrics are really well written.

- One of the most well known black metal songs right there by the way.
