The *Official* Eve Online Thread

Like i said yesterday, get rid of that Heavy launcher, you don't want to be mixing missile sizes.

With Assaults you should be able to fit LSEs easy, the hardners you want to swap on a per mission basis really.

Right, so when EVE some back up, i shall remove the Heavy and put a new Limos on, then i shall put my LSE back on, removing the MSE, and find something to fill the last mid slot.

Right i didnt remove the MSE just put a LSE on with it, now nearly 5K shield....with 67% resistance to explosive damage...removed the Heavy missile, put another assualt there...anything else i should buy or remove?

67% Explosive resists is pretty useless unless your only doing Angel missions, Kinetic and Thermal are much useful for Guristas and Photon for Blood Raider, which are the more common mission rats.

What about Athrans?

The rats will change depending on the mission your doing, All the different race rats, do that races damage type. This gives a rough outline to what each race damage, it varies slightly with the bounty but it averages out to about this: http://www.evegeek.com/npc_damage.php

Let me find the mission website that exaplins all the missions in detail.
This website gives a walk through fro every mission in eve, very usefull if you dont know the mission, http://eve-survival.org/wikka.php?wakka=MissionReports

Change the mids in your caracal to:
Afterburner T1
Large Shield Extender (meta level 4, best named)
3x hardeners for that mission, shield hardeners are an active module, when off they add 1%, when on they add 50% to that shield resist. For example, if you were doing a sansha mission, you would have 2 EM hadeners and 1 Thermal. A Serpentice mission you would have 2 Kinetic and 1 Thermal etc. You need to swap the hardeners for every mission you do, as rat types change most missions.

The new system rocks though, you can now train from scratch to Mining Barges in 6 Days, Retriever in 8. Guess whos training his 3rd Account? ;)

You sure? my alt was designed from scratch as a miner / research
Astrogeology 5 on it's own was a 9 day skill IIRC (only have 3 days left to go now)
then mining barges after that....

Finally got in game last night.

Bloody home internet got shafted. Finished all of the combat tuts and most of the industry ones.

Will have the skills for my Merlin and Badger tonight. From here its the big bad world and deciding which way I am going to take my character.

Just got back into EvE, really want to give it ago but need to find some sort of corp i think, was flying solo the last time i played it, was quite dull after awhile.

Has anyone got some advice they could give me on how to fit a Thorax (Gallente cruiser) for PVE? I really don't want to make the same mistake as I did when I bought a destroyer first of all which are apparently bad for new players, then fitted it with 6 different turrets with different ranges etc..

Oops looks like they reversed the decision, although the route to letting Bob reclaim their old name now stands as possibly being opened.

we didnt want that name anyway!

The name crap didnt stop us just killing there entire fleet including a lot of caps, they had at least 150 on grid. oh and the pos is in structure!

Lag was playeble even with 1000+ in local shooting, epic

Defense alert detector just exploded :) I wasn't having a go, was just saying :)

Well im in the once alliance called bob in rkk and tbh i couldnt give a **** whether we have bob back or we are named after a beaver, as long as my alliance m8s log in and pvp and still log onto teamspeak and chat then im a happy camper.

@ spok

Try the vexor as i found it a much better pve ship than the thorax cus you can pick your damage types with drones and then use your highs to help with cap or you could fit small guns to help against the frigs as you speed tank the larger ships. Sry if the info is abit vague but i havent done missions for 2 years at least and the only pve i do is ratting in 0.0

Last night my flatmate (Khunag) and I decided we would go on a little trip to explore a wormhole. While he ran around New Eden kitting out his Caracal for the job, I set upon the task of scanning down a wormhole in my Drake.

First one I found led to high-sec space. Not exactly what I was looking for. So I moved to another system. Three systems later I found one into unknown space in Sakenta.

When he finally got everything together, I undocked from the station I was waiting at and warped us to the wormhole.

When we got inside, it was gorgeous. It was unlike any system seen in New Eden.

First task was create a safespot where we could retreat to in times of danger.

After we made ourselves comfortable we started scanning the system to see what we could find. There was lots of stuff including LADAR/RADAR sites, asteroid belts, many different Sleeper installations, and more wormholes, one of which led deep into 0.0. We eventually settled on a Perimeter installation. We warped in to see what we had.

What we found was a sleeper station burried deep in a gas cloud, guarded by sentry towers, a couple of smaller drones (Probably frigate class) and three larger ones (Cruiser class).

They fired upon me first as I warped in first, but as soon as Khunag warped in they immediately started firing upon him. They owned him in near enough twenty seconds flat. He warped out to our safespot at 3/4 armor. (He later discovered that he had forgotten to turn his shield hardeners on...)

Once Khunag was gone they targetted me again. Miraculously, my passive tanked Drake was holding up extremely well! Despite everything firing upon me, I figured I could probably last at least ten minutes before having to warp out, but I could probably destroy a few of their kind before that happened, reducing their damage output and allowing me to survive longer.

Well, these things take a TON of damage. They have no shields, but their armor and structure seem to have massive resistances and no weaknesses. I tried many different types of missile, they all did the same amount of damage.

At one point, after destroying the first lot, a second set of reinforcements appeared. This time their tactic was different. Whereas the first lot got as close as possible and fired at close range, these guys were hitting me at 50km+, and as soon as I got closer than 40km, they would run in the other direction! I couldn't get in range to get a shot off.

By this time Khunag had regenerated his shields and was back in the fray. As per usual, they targetted him instead (I still haven't figured out why). However we had discovered a loophole in the drones programming.

Operation Fish Baite had commenced. While they would try to stay a certain distance from who they were firing at, they would ignore anything else. So, Khunag ran in the opposite direction to me. The Sleeper, trying to stay at 40km odd, turned around and followed him, bringing him closer to me!

40km...39km...38km...37...36km...GOTCHA! I opened fire with everything I had and let my drones free.

The Sleepers, realising that they had just fallen for a trap, targetted me and ran away again, it was too late. Their armor was falling fast.

At one point, the Sleeper decided that my drones were the bigger threat and started firing upon them. I had to recall them as he had them into armor.

When we finished off these guys, a battleship class Sleeper drone arrived with a backup of three smaller drones.

The smaller drones were uneventful, pretty much the same as the first lot. However the big guy was owning me, taking massive chunks out of my shield every volley. We got him down to 3/4 armor before we both had to warp back to our safespot to regen. However I had left it a bit too late to warp out, and in a single last volley he took out just under half my armor!

Coming back in, we both targetted the battleship drone and opened fire. Again, his missile volley (Predormitan Missiles...that's a new type!) was doing a truck load of damage and I wasn't going to last long. We got him down to 1/3 and had then I had to warp out again.

Coming back for a third and last time, we were surprised to find out there was nothing there anymore! Our wrecks were there, but the station and drones had left. Did they run away? Who knows.

I spent a few minutes salvaging the wrecks (We got NICE bit of loot from here) and then some of the guys back in known space started wondering where we were as they wanted us to join in on a mining op. We decided we had had enough fun for one night, so promptly scanned an exit wormhole into high-sec.

When we got out, we discovered we were only 10 jumps away from home, in Amarr space. We set autopilot, but half way through the trip we noticed we were actually in Amarr, the Amarrians home system. Since we had never been here before we took a quick detour to Amarr Prime to see what was there. We weren't disappointed. ;)

After taking a couple of minutes to take a few screenshots, we set autopilot again for home. At least 20 Sleeper wrecks under our belt, and 40m+ ISK's worth of loot in our cargohold, I had to say this was the most fun I had in EVE for a LOOONG time.

Bonus shots below.

Nice one Xeno. People had me believing there was no point taking anything smaller than a BS into a wormhole. Time to see if I can get my harbinger blown up :)
