Sennheiser HD555 - WOW!!

It's closed headphones or IEMs in public for me unless it's somewhere where people wouldn't mind the noise.
 
Just a quick Q, I'm getting a nice pair of Can's in 2 weeks because I'm not really getting into this whole IEM business. IEM's are perfectly fine when you're sitting down and no-one can bother you but I'm constantly taking them out to listen to people.

At the moment I'm looking at the 555's but I'm not sure whether to upgrade to a pair of Ultrasone 450's. Would these need a pre-amp or are they fine on their own?

Btw, I used to wear my Senn HD202's in public :D.

Along with my Aego M system too :D. Weird part is, I haven't setup either of them yet... should really do something about that.
 
Sod wearing them in public! If they are the same size as my HD595 I'd feel like an utter muppet and the sound leaks a lot even when on low volume.
 
HD555, 595 and 650 owner here :D
They're great cans all round. Grab a banana stand from Tesco's/Morrisons as they make great can holders. I did once travel to work with my 650's on and I looked a right gimp, and then it began to rain and I had to hide them under me jacket and guard them like my life depended on it. Guess I should have stuck to my super.fi's for travel :)

Luckily just managed to miss a price rise headphones were only £57.95, soundcard was £59.99. Sounding great so far though! :D

Noo! it was you? Get them from a certain competitor of which their name comes from a certain area of Brazil?

Son of a.. :mad: Got paid today and got up early to order them only to find they'd gone up to £66 and since it was with a third party I couldn't get their free next day deliver :( Had to pay about £17 more :( Bah, they better be good!

Yea thats the one. :p Yea I was well lucky tbf they went up the following day! Theyre worth it though. :)
 
Have any of you 555 owners done the foam removing mod? Apparently they use the same drivers as the 595 and with the restrictive foam removed sound the same as the 595's.

I think I'll grab a pair of 555's soon though, will be a nice compliment to my PC350's that will soon have the bass mod done to them.
