Hi all

I am looking to buy a new 24 inch monitor this week. But I am unsure to go for the Samsung T240 here or the Dell E248WFp here. Which out of these 2 monitors or any other would you suggest ? I want to buy 2 so as I can connect in a dual monitor setup. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Michael

Not sure

Thanks for the advice think I will prob go for the T240 as I just want a good all roudn monitor for gaming, web browsing, videos and some graphic design. Think the contrast ratio of the Samsung has thrown me towards it.

Thanks,
Michael

I would suggest the T240's too. I'm only recommending it because it seems to be the most popular of the TN 24" screens, and I haven't seen anyone complain about it. NOT because of the contrast ratio though, don't ever let that sway you, unless it's absolutely the only thing that's different.

The "20,000:1" contrast ratio is dynamic, this means that it adjusts the backlighting to get darker blacks or brighter whites. This is all good, but with adjusting the backlighting, it changes the entire screen, which means you cannot have a bright white AND dark black at the same time, and in this case, it would act with the "true" contrast ratio, which is usually between 500-1000:1 (and, if you are comparing contrast, is the one you should look at).

I'd even say it's possible that the E248WFP may have a better true contrast ratio than the T240, but that still shouldn't be a deciding factor on which monitor to buy. The best way to check, is with people that have tried both monitors, usually review sites or, like you are doing, on forums. The facts and figures mean nothing if the panel is poor, and there is no way to know that without owning one.
