Which company car?

Get yourself down to some local dealers and have a mooch round a few of the cars on your list, taking test drives etc. At least then you will know yourself if you like any of the cars.
Do you think they would allow me to? Im only 23, so wouldnt expect them to give me the time of day tbh.

I test drove a s2000 at 21 they didnt even batter an eye lid (Tho i was serious about buying)

However audi you cant test drive anything till your 25 (yes even a 1.6 A3)

That's a load of bull**** to be honest... Both my wife and I have test driven various Audi's including 2.0T A3s and we're only 23

I know they aren't on the list but how about Citroen C5 or Alfa 159 (the estate versions looks the bees knees) Have you seen either of these? Both looks fantastic. Have found myself staring at one of our neighbours new C5 for longer than is probably advised whilst driving :D Also Accord surely in for a shout?

If they think theres a sale in it they'll let you test drive the vehicle. They may just insist someone goes with you.

Pretty much the two best cars in the list. Everything else is either crap full stop or poor spec.

For once I may actually agree with you fox lol

Go and drive both and pick the one you like best. You'll get a test drive, just tell the dealer you are getting a car allowance not a company car ;)

If this was PH there'd be a lynching by motor traders for even suggesting such a thing.

They must suspect this anyway, I bet they get sod all private sales of Insignias and Mondeos.

If the motor trader is a main dealer then screw'em.

It might however be a bit harsh wasting the time of an independent. For these purposes why would you go anywhere but a franchised dealer? Independents don't stock brand new cars.

I wont comment on the car as a whole, but the Laguna wont be bad spec wise will it, compared with the Mondeo/Insignia?

Its been suggested that I use a car allowance and lease instead of getting a company car.

What are your thoughts? Im inititally against it as I dont have a current car, and no savings in case anything went wrong/ for servicing/tyres etc.

forgot to say, allowance would be 6k a year plus 30p a mile for the first 10,000

Not having to worry about servicing, tax, insurance etc is worth a few quid IMO. Take the company car.
Remember that you will pay income tax on that 6k per year. I'm guessing at 40% if you earn over the threashold.

With the allowance, it would put me up to 36k
