Petrol Prices

Yes. Diesel is in high demand in the UK comparative to petrol. This is why there is such a price difference - the taxation on the two fuels is identical.

It has as much to do with demand for diesel elsewhere in the world as it does with UK demand.

88.9p around here atm. Shame they got rid of the 5p off when >£50 shopping at tescos as we always tend to spend that anyway, was handy!

Tesco aint daft 5p on 60 litres is £3, the price increase on some of their products week to week is beyond belief, I really don't know why people shop there just to save 5p per litre, its sheer madness.

Well i just pinch the ticket off the gf :p

Can't say i've noticed them being noticably more expensive than anywhere else though tbh...

If you already do your weekly shop at Tesco's then it does come in handy, though the amount of muppets who will go off to buy an extra fiver worth of stuff for the 5p off is madness.

There's a £5 limit anyway.

Fuel has just gone up last week from 88.9 to 89.9 on unleaded while the week before diesel came down to 96.9 from 97.9.

I know I should have filled up last night but noooo, I got cocky and deicded to run around on the red light so I can get home earlier. Now I'm gonna be 80p poorer :(

Seems a bit cheeky to start messing with fuel prices right now but hey ho. We're used to paying over £1 per litre so meeting that half way doesn't seem as bad to them I suppose.

Whoopie! Petrol has creeped up 2ppl in the last week round here on its own, I know its hardly the end of the world but 87.9ppl to 91.9ppl is still noticeable.

It isnt really just diesel in demand as the part of the crude that diesel is produced from is also used for many other oils too inc. kerosene for aircraft and other oils. They can change the amount of diesel, kerosene or other similar oil they produce out of the crude fairly easlily but you always have the by product which is petrol and they cant do anything with that.

Can I get some WTF to go with this FAIL?!

Filled up yesterday at 90.9p/litre, and today the same garage is at 95.9p/litre!!!! 2p <> 5p!

Very popular tactics in a highly competative petrol area (IE, a few stations near each other). They up the price a little over the new increase, wait a week or so then drop it 2p to appear cheaper again.

I park right next ot a petrol station during the day so any small increase makes no difference as I'd use that driving to the next one.

Shell garage yesterday was 89.9 for unleaded in the morning, I drive by at night on the way to play golf and they have changed the price to 90.9.
