Street Fighter (SFIV, SSFIV, HDR)

Puh, margaret has so totally excelled in the last week. While i am in awe of the fact that i was only a month ago better than you and now you are well beyond my skill, i do hate you utterly for it :p

All my fingers hurt at the moment from building my own stick. I'll be fed up with it when I'm finished :p

Yeah but it'll be worth it. Going to mod my Hori as soon as the parts arrive. On the topic of SFIV injuries I've just given myself a blister playing Cavallino. I think my hands were sweating too much :)

Hehe. I really need that Madcatz pad asap. This Xbox360 pad is going to be thrown out of a window very soon.

Good games today bud :) Dont forget to tiger uppercut into Guiles second low leg sweep :p

lol that will be sick for sagat, he will be able to get tiger uppercut -> FADC -> forward hk -> ultra. from a blocked guile c.hk. lmao!

careful cav :p

Cheers mate, really enjoyed our matches and well played. Its like a game of chess playing you. Was close but you had the beating of me this evening. Shame that lag appeared it was playing havok with my tiger shot timing. Thanks for the sweep tip, I'd tried to FA the second a few times but TU seems more reliable. Plus, as ojste points out, it can lead to even more punishment.

Don't forget to keep the pressure on Sagat and move forward at any opportunity. I'm very happy to sit back and trade fireballs so get in close and start mixing things up and punish any error as I try to break out. But maybe thats just how to beat a very average Sagat player, I'm sure the pros would have a way of dealing with a Guile rushdown :D

Which is why I pointed it out to him because I was getting free hits with it earlier, albeit void was blocking them where he could be doing more damage. Giving free tips! See Im not such an ass after all am I :D ?

But if i were playing you ojste I wouldnt even consider doing them ;) But if you remember our first games, you didnt actually use to dragon my second leg sweeps, it was only until later that you started doing them more and more often!

Another achilles heel (to add to do the dozens upon dozens) that Guile has is his inability to do many juggle combinations, which is a shame really :(

lol while I have definitely gotten better lately I wouldn't say I'm beyond you really, was still some close matches :p

I decided to go back to training mode earlier this week and just practice on links and really happy with the pay off although I'm more pleased with my progress with the arcade stick. :) I felt really gimped playing non-chargers with the stick a few weeks ago .

thats true, i used to just sit there and block... then came the experimentation with FA but that didnt seem too effective either hehe :p

its not even funny how strong sagat is, i just been looking at some of his regular bread and butter combos, they are like around 30% health minimum... thats like his 2 hit combos!

his anti air damage is especially disgusting :o

And heres me thinking Seth was mid tier: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKtZU_PEy60 (second match)

Admittedly hes in the hands of a very strong player but even so...

What b&b combos do you find most useful mate? I can do c.lk, c.lk, c.lp, TU in practice but landing it in a match is a different story

i just watched this vid http://gamevideos.1up.com/video/id/23807

i found the link on srk so don't worry about the location of the vid :p

his anti air combos especially are really really powerful. you can get stuff like:

forward hk, forward hk, ex low tiger (this one is OVER 30% hp just for knocking someone out of the air...)
forward hk, forward hk, ultra...

generally everything which ends in tiger uppercut looks good, especially since you can cancel if you got meter so you could do really short combos and still be safe + chance of ultra

another interesting find on the vid is that you can combo ex tiger uppercut into ultra without cancelling... :|

Thanks ojste. I've watched that video before but I think I need to go through it again. I actually have the Sagat guide printed out and sitting on my desk :)

I was just wondering what you yourself find most useful in a match? I'm still not linking block strings together too well and comboing into TK usually leaves me open. I know its a spacing issue with the TK as Sagat can recover if it only hits once. Because of this I find myself relying too heavily on c.mk, low tiger shot when an opponent gets close.

I dunno, I'm kinda doing it just because I can. I already have an EX2 and an SE in the post.

I know the feeling. I volt modded the fans on my old 360 because I could and I don't really need to mod my Hori but I quite fancy trying out an octagonal gate, bat top and sanwa buttons.

tried playing with the madcatz just now

set it up and went into arcade mode and someone jumped in

1st round he got a perfect on me and he was rubbish  :o
2nd round i think i managed to pull the psycho crusher out once (just about 1 special move) and i think i managed one punch on him lol
3rd round i didnt bother

then i tried ryu and someone jumped in again, fireballs wernt coming out, just dragon punches lol, but i did better managed to get some random punches and kicks out

just one question how much force can this stick take, because i feel you kind of need to yank it in the required direction especially with charge characters, but i dont want to break it already

its currently back in the box, im giving it some alone time, it should be ashamed of itself :p

Stick will take ages to get used to you just have to "stick" with it pardon the pun.

Just play non ranked player matches practising with it.

Most important thing with the stick is have your hand always in the same position.

i can't give you too much useful info really since i don't actually use sagat, i just do combos and stuff for fun :p

i don;t know the best application for tiger knee but apparantly it beats out everything except for ultras, so i guess its used for priority like kens dragon punches. perhaps stick to lk/mk tiger knee for its reduced range?

ive watched your vids and my gameplan would be similar to yours, just keep them the hell away because they have a lot of work to do to get close. once your ultra is up, replace your normal hk you use as anti with wither forward hk or tiger uppercut FADC combos to make use of the ultra.

its seem like most of sagats tools are designed to space anyway, i mean both his throws and stuff like tiger knee/ ex tiger shots knocks them a full screen away lol!

perhaps this thread will be more useful to you, its a breakdown of all his moves and bread and butter stuff :) http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=160652

i find watching tourney/match vids is always helpful for ideas and setups. i bet you'll find some good stuff by watching what other sagats do forced to fight up close and maybe find some useful stuff about tiger knee :D
