Woooo Bought my first house

Nice one - currently looking at getting a place too in the next year or so - have been living with parents all the time whilst working which has definetely helped.

Shame I'm in London though so still quite expensive in the areas I'm looking at - quite a good price you got compared to the asking :)

Nathan May I ask if you're married and how old? (Seriously asking, just trying to compare myself to others when it comes to buying property etc).
Congratulations!!!

Just bought this!

3 Bed link-detached. Awesome concervatory on the back too

In a nice part of Shrewsbury, originally up for £205000 and we got it for £163000 :) Pretty sweet for a first time buyer I think!

Really happy, got mucho plans for home media etc. Just got to wait a month now to move in. Got a good mortgage too, fixed for 5 years @ 5.25% for 85% LTV.

Nice, what job do you have? :p

Nice house Nathan :)

Me and my fiancee are currently in the process of looking at buying our first house. We have a 15% deposit and looking in a similar price range to you.

Where did you manage to get 5.25% 5 year fixed from? Lowest i can find is 5.69%

What kind of person would let you of £40k though? :p

20% off is exactly how much the average house has fallen since peak. The £163k looks spot on for today's market price. I don't think it's an awesome bargain - just the market price. Which it is pretty much by definition as that's the price the OP and the seller agreed on!

The only slight worry is that a year from the the market price will probably be another £25k lower (-15%) and the OP will have lost half his capital. It's not really important if staying for at least 5 years though. Enjoy your new home, looks great! :)

Ah yes but this is Shrewsbury where prices have fallen just 11% :) Could have bought a 4 bedroom house in Telford for the same price but wanted to live in a nice town/place
