Dear all,

I am in need of some good advice please. I advertised my car on a website for sale or swap and recieved an e-mail offer of a swap. Fast forward to yesterday and we met up, spent 2 hours checking over the cars (we both had someone with us) before both being happy and signing the V5's etc (inc a reciept).

Now today they are saying that they've changed their minds because they had the car inspected by a local garage and it needs some work doing (tyre, headlamp bulb and a couple of other minor things).

Am I right in thinking that this deal cannot be reversed?

Please help! Thanks:)

they will probably return your car with some of the goods bits swapped out for bad bits, do not swap back.

As above, they check the car over before they signed the V5, its their problem.

Be polite with them though, don't be an arse, just explain that there were no issues raised on the day of the swap, the V5's were signed and sent off so its now out of your hands and you do not wish to make the trade back.

Thanks. I was thinging exactly the same thing, they checked the car over and so did I!! If a problem arised with the car that I got then I would be ****ed off bt I now that it's tough!

Now some guy has left me a threatening voicemail. Am I allowed to just ignore them? What if they turn up at my house!

if you're really worried, go to the police. he hasn't got a leg to stand on. i'd give him a call, and explain to him that he checked the car over himself and agreed the swap. there's not a lot he can do really.

+1 If you feel threatened go to the Police. It's at your discretion whether or not you want to go back on the deal. Some people are just idiots.

He spent ages looking over the car and failed to notice a couple of bad points, it's just one of those things.

As already said, tell him to take a hike, he checked it over and was supposedly happy.

Had you sold it for cash & then gone out & spent it, he'd hardly be in a position to get a refund would he? - He's chancing because he's not looked close enough and now feels cheated (wrongly!).

Just out of interest, what did you trade?

After 24 hours and a private sale well i say sale but you get what i mean.

Nowt he can do. If he turns up and your house being aggresive. Have him put away in a cage for a night for all his troubles.

Like said previously. He should have looked over it more closely.

Cheers guys.

I've just sent a text saying that the deal was done and signed etc. I even said that I would contribute towards some repairs! If they turn up then I'll be calling the law.

I will let you all know what happens!! Sorry can't reveal the details of what was swapped because I don't want a certain someone finding this thread!

:)

Don't delete that voicemail, don't swap back and I'd also pop down your local nick and let them know you've been threatened, just in case something does occur.

Can't believe the tool didn't spot a dodgy tyre and a bulb out in a 2 hour inspection! He's trying it on. What kind of guy was he when you met him (ie Chav/gangster innit or a family guy?)

Yeah well now they're saying that the susp and cat have gone! He was quite a nice bloke and a chippy by trade I think. Looked quite hard tbh! Wicked!

They haven't replied yet so I'm guessing they're on their way. :o

Did your receipt say "sold as seen". Also how recent is the MOT? If the Cat and Suspension were on their way out that should have been picked up.

No, just the time/date, swapped ******* for ******* (signature)

MOT last May

They kept their V5 that I filled out and I'm guessing they they're not going to send it off - wtf do I do then! AM I just going to give the car back! I don't want to though! ARGHFZGFZGJGDJSTFH :mad::(
