Hi

Are there any mileage bumps on Z3's where a major repair/replacement typically is needed?

I'm looking at Z3's, some good looking bargains at around the 5k mark for about a 02 plate.

nothing to say other than Z3's look horrid imo. they look like you are trying to make up for something...

hehehe :D

Personally then, I'd wait. The 1.9 isn't really quick enough, a lot of weight for that little puny 4-pot to shift. You'll also be missing out on a big part of top down motoring, being able to hear the engine roar!

If you can't wait for the 2.8 to be insurable, then at this price point, if you are not going for the 6-pot, you may as well get an MX-5, as it will outhandle and outperform the 1.9 Z3 hands down.

Opinion my dear friend. One man's pot of gold is another man's crock of ****.

I personally think that 5k for a 12 year old 4pot convertible is poor value.

I think it is an 02 plate, making it only 7 years old. I realise as well that it is my opinion, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that.

The 4 pot is a deal breaker. If it had a 6cyl engine it'd be a bit more worth it. If I was in the op's position I'd be looking elsewhere.

It's a bit above book maybe. They do hold their value if they are clean without too many miles also. It's up to you, but if you want my poinion in all this I'd say give it a miss and maybe hold out for a decent small coupe or something.
