Do we all agree that Babylon 5 beats Star Trek?

For an epic story arc, Babylon 5 wins. Although Deep Space Nine managed to come close for the same reasons (Stations don't go anywhere so you need in-depth stories to keep it watchable)

Didn't they use the same system for Seaquest DSV? Now that was dire...

SeaQuest DSV could have been really good. Unfortunately the TV execs wanted it to be more sci-fi after the relatively non-sci-fi first season so the second season was nothing like the first, they moved forward a hundred years and added aliens. The third season was even worse. Most of the fans of the show left and the ratings plumeted.

Oops, this was meant to be an edit on my previous post, not an entire new one on it's own.

Blasphemy
Star Trek pwns Babylon 5

You tell him picard

i know its stupid as we are all mainly adults here (and its not like kids haven't heard that word anyway)

but dont expect the pic to be up for long and you might get a slap on the wrist for posting it

OK, can't believe I'm posting this twice in the same day but the vagaries of search betray my geekiness.
THIS shall answer all your questions: www.starwreck.com

Still, had they shown Spike sitting in a bar drinking (as apparently was considered) it would have been very cool :D
Spike of Cowboy Bebop? Always thought the basic idea for Firefly had been nicked off Bebop, but would've been good if they'd acknowledged it!:D

I would be hard pressed to make a decision here.

But...

B5 first - but I never did get my head around the change of station commander - was that supposed to happen or just a casting issue?

Farscape second - dead sad, sudden, and unexpected the way it ended.

DS9 third

Way down the field we have the rest of the star treks, Andromeda, star gate, etc etc

Ask me tomorrow and i'll probably put the big three in a different order.

PS: Haven't seen the new series of BSG yet. Looking forward to buying the DvDs at a discount store one day and watching the lot.

PPS: Reminds me - right at the bottom of the list, so far down the field you'd need a radio telescope to even see it I would have to put the original BSG series. With Buck Rogers (Erin Gray mmmm).

The best thing about Star Trek is that each episode was largely independent of each other and it didn't really matter if you missed a few, as each had their own stories. Despite this, Star Trek still managed a sense of progression and character development throughout each season. This vastly contributed to its watchability unlike Babylon 5 where if you missed only a few, you'd get confused at the inexplicable and oft-tangled plot.

I think there's too much variety in the Trek universe to make any useful comparison but, yes B5 did indeed rock.

I don't know about Bab 5 but Star Trek is let down by the amount of: parallel universe / time travel / god being / holodeck goes wrong / turns out he was a clone all along / turns out the whole city was a hologram etc. episodes. Can't stand that **** writing. But then I guess that's what ST fans like.

I bought it and world of warcraft the same day and used to grind with B5 playing in one window.

Aloreth, are you by any chance fat, single, bearded, wearing an Iron Maiden T-Shirt and wear a black leather trenchcoat because you think it makes you look like Neo?

I'm just curious....I'd also like to apologise to the half of the forum that I have just offended.

Firefly > Farscape > B5 > Stargate > TNG > Voy > everything > Excrement > Enterprise.

to quote Futurama: "yeah, way to kill off the franchise, Bakula!" :D

bab5 all the way.

i don't know how people can say the new star treks were any good - the unlikable characters, offensive moralising, it just seems to represent the worst aspects of self aggrandising american culture.
