Well received a letter from BT broadband this morning, saying if I renewed my contract I’d get £3 knocked off. Well if you have read my earlier threads joining Sky broadband I’d save £20. It,s a no brainer folks.

They offered me similar the last time my contract was up.

And doubled my download allowance.

I foolishly accepted as for the month leading up to that, my speeds were very good. Then shortly after I accepted, they became terrible again.

Is that not the Sky package that limits your speeds to 2mb and your downloads to <5gb a month?

Every summer I ring up BT on behalf of my dad and get them to upgrade our connection (512 > 2mb then 2mb > 8mb). They would have just left us on 512 and charged us the same price for ever no doubt. Last summer I tried to ring up and get them to put us on the new 8mb Unlimited package which appeared better than our current one. It turned out not to be but I did get them to reduce the price of both our broadband and telephone packages by a total of about £10 - £15 IIRC.

This is similair to what happened with me, they rung up offering bt vision, which i declined. Id been on the option 3 package with unlimited downloads for quite some time, so they asked if i wanted to stay with them, i agreed to extend the contract again with a £2.00 a month price drop, and shortly thereafter my speed started to steadily decline, after previously being very good.

As we had Sky TV + Talk, we get Sky Max broadband (16MB) £10 monthly.

hmmm, i've been lumbered with BT for a few years now, mainly my fault as i signed up to receive the homehub (which i then sold) without reading the small print that states, that by doing so, i agreed to a 18 months, b*ll*cks. anyway, contract finally ran out last Friday. I've never experienced traffic shaping with them, until a few weeks ago. The speeds were pathetic, it was even a struggle to stream videos from youtube. I gave them a call as i wanted the MAC, and i got offered the same saving of £2 a month, despite me being with them for years. I told them i could get 3 times the speed, and make a saving of roughly £5 if i went with BE, the guy said 'oh'. Seems they don't value there customers at all.
