....have you informed your insurer?

Just doing some quotes with bell i was just checking variations on my job title, and just wondered how much difference unemployed would make!

Changing my job title from "Manager" to "Unemployed" made the insurance premium increase by 42%!!! Which with their price as it is, is £600 a year.....but housewife which is practically the same thing if your partner works makes no difference to policy cost.

Absolutely insane.

Tom.

Because 'Unemployed' suggests no income.

Whereas 'Housewife' suggests there is income into the house, that isnt you.

Damn, sorry to hear that Tom!

Although, hiking the price due to 'Unemployment' is madness! The one time you actually need cheaper insurance!!

I dont see why unemployed should make a differance, if you have no income you dont pay insurance premiums and you default on the policy = You don't have insurance

whoa wait, im NOT unemployed :p i was just messing around with different job titles and wondered if it made a difference!

well if my partner was still in work, which she is, then there would be income ;) :p (but im still employed so dont worry)

Sorry, what?

Despite how not too long back, Tom was saying how he might be facing redundancy in the next few months?

He is rolleyes'ing at the insurance companies for being gits, ie, putting up premiums when you are likely at your poorest :)

Somehow

Turned into people thinking he was out of work.

Did your shop close?

Do you not get enough business with the photos?

Damn, sorry to hear that Tom!

Hence me saying people are coming to conclusions. Is that not a fair point to make?

The rolleyes was an inappropriate choice of emoticon. I'm a bit tired and cranky and it's well past my bedtime :p

Oh and that as well. Insurance companies are an ass.

Ah crap ill have to do this because im unemployed at the minute.

My insurance is currently fully comp with business cover (as i needed it in last job), but i left my job recently and I start employment in the RAF on May 13th. So I no longer need fully comp/business,.. but i am unemployed :(

I love how people come to conclusions

The insurance companies sure know how to kick you when you're down

They're not a charity. The premium is higher for each employment status because statistics show person of status X is Y more or less likely to have an accident than anyone else. So, they pay a higher premium.

A person who is unemployed is 40% more likely to make a claim? That's utter rubbish.

I agree, bearing in mind when I was unemployed the car sat outside the house 6 days of the week, whereas previously I'd used the car 5 days a week to commute to work.

Hatter The Mad, do you mean people paying monthly who default on payments?
