I know a lot of you dont like watches, this is for the people that do :) some of you might remember a thread i started last year when i got a damasko da36, well now i have got my hands on the daddy the DC66.

Ordinarily there is a 6month to 2 year waitng list on these and they are one of the few watches that sell for RRP second hand. Key features include a special ice hardened steel and a ceramic diamond coated bezel (ala rolexes GMT2c altho damaskos was available first)

This is one of 3 that damasko actually had in stock, the story behind them is that each of the 3 has a minute flaw in the bezel, i was told by them that it isnt visible to the naked eye, thats not quite true, up close you can see 2 small blemishes on the bezel either side of the 3, but its something i can live with you cannot see it from anything more than 5 inches away and i have good eyesight :D also it is a small concession to make to get one immediately. there was also a discount....of €50 euro :p ....to sweeten the deal!

Anyway i am delighted with it, it is one big and heavy beasty, much more so than the damasko da36 for example or the tag carrera it replaced.

some very quick and dirtys taken with my phone

If anything those blemishes make it unique. ;)

POSITIVE SPIN!

I like it very much, congrats on a good buy!

Not my type of watch but if we were all the same life would be boring.

Indeed, my other two watches are totally different but i wanted a flieger, had planned on getting the IWC but when this became available i couldnt pass it up.

How much then?

Its on their website, rrp is €1699, i got it for €1649

Indeed, again if you didnt know they were there you wouldnt see them, so i can live with it

in your opinion obviously :)
Well of course it's my opinion. I didn't think it was necessary to post that, otherwise it would be appended to everything anyone says on an internet forum, and real life for that matter. Nor did I add 'in Cheets64's opinion, welsh cheddar is French'.

Well, thats about €1630 too much then, kinda looks like something you'd get from Argos.

It probably looks / feels more pricey in the flesh.

Personally I'd chose form & function over price. That said the kind of form and function I'd go for would probably cost less that 1630 euros :D

Bit of provocative post though, was it not?

Nice one mate, watches are not my thing, but I can appreciate that some people like to spend a fair amount and get themselves something nice.

im inclined to agree, if i was paying that much for a watch i would want perfect condition aswell.

you dont buy a ferrari and expect a few blemishes on the paintwork

I was trying to be nice about, you made a deliberately provocative post, about something you seem to know very little about, if you dont like the look of the watch its fine, taste is a personal thing, but there are very few watches made with the kind of technology this one is and none of them will be found in argos. i found your post ignorant to be honest.

Thank you :)

the irony is that when you buy a ferrari there will be blemishes, machine polisher trails etc on the paintwork when you get it ;)

the defect was something i wanted to see if i could live with, it turns out i can, as it is miniscule, the alternative was to order and wait 6-18 months to get one.

You can judge my knowledge of watches from me posting my opinion on buying a rather crappy looking watch? You're good.

if you knew anything about watches you would appreciate that while the aesthetics may not be to your taste that maybe there were other features of the watch that you could admire, for example the DLC bezel or the patented steel hardening process.

For the record what watch do you have?
