Ex-pats

I moved to Munich for five years and had a great time. However when you move abroad you do see that other countries each have their own problems and maybe the UK wasn't so bad after all. It is certainly an experience I'd recommend for anyone who wants to broaden their horizons. A lot of people here especially would certainly benefit from seeing life from a different perspective.

I (we) may move abroad again, depending on mine and the other half's jobs in future years but I think I'll always come back to the UK.

Moved to Prague September 08 and the only thing I miss is family and friends.

I was home again at xmas time and was pretty disgusted at the way people treat each other and speak to each other now.
It's quieter here, less trouble and more relaxing than anywhere I have lived in the UK.

You sound just like me the first couple of years I moved to Munich. :D

Hey there I am just wondering if there are any other ex-pats on these boards ??
I left the UK Jan 19th 2008, and currently live just out side Vancouver B.C as much as I like living here I am really starting to missing the UK.

So were are you living now ??? do you miss the UK ??

I am moving out there 1st May, last day of work today :(

Australian ex-pat here; came to the UK in January 2004 as a single guy, now married with a gorgeous baby girl.

I miss a lot of things about Australia. Moving back home later this year.

:)

I live in Prague now, been here since Jan '07. I can't think of many things I miss, mainly food, family and friends.

Iv been living in Belfast for nearly 2 years now (yeah thats almost abroad) for uni, and i quite like it. (yeah i think that could be to do with enjoying uni though).

Anyway, i do miss england sometimes, it would be nice to actually understand most people first time and it would be nice to hang about with some old friends abit more than my once every so often trip back over, but its still worth it.

I dont forsee my self staying here after i finish my degree though, its a bit small.... (plus id like to do the propper ex-pat thing and study in some other country or something random like that)

Why is that platypus the 400 types of beer have anything to do with it?
Actually, thinking about it, I would be torturing myself because I can't drink at present. But it would be something to look forward too..

..I've been a few times and love it. Just love it, can't really put my finger on why.
