Ok, stopping off at Australia a bit later this year for about 7-10 days.

Need a car.

Father just text me to say that he isnt sure that i can get a car being under 25. I have checked on both Budget and Europcar and indeed he is half right, everything remotely decent disappears when i tick the "are under 25" box.

So, OcUK, where can i rent something good in Australia at the tender age of 24?

I have nothing to add to this thread but I feel I must brag that as I am 25 I am hiring a 265bhp Ford Falcon for $42AUD a day :D

Tried carhire3000.com?

Ugh, I had this problem in the states, but rather than restrict any cars I could drive they doubled the per day price.

My father and step mother have just returned from a 4 week stay in Perth, and they spent an entire day shopping around for a rental car. Seems the rental prices are not far short of over here once you take into account the "extras" that the advertised price doesn't include, e.g. there will be a massive excess should the car get damaged, but you can reduce it by paying extra. Daily mileage was limited to 100km in their case which barely took them to one side of the city and back. 4 door cars seem to have a hefty premium over 2 doors etc.

They have been over 5 times or so in the last 10 years and not had a problem getting a hire car for reasonable money until this year.

Same, $25USD per day extra

Thats fine, it was finding somewhere which would at least do the rental for any money which was the issue! Sorted now though, Thrifty in AUS will rent me an XR6, and Budget in LA will rent me a Mustang Convertible.

With the proper motor or the Cologne V6? Not that it really matters too much, but it would be a shame to hire a Mustang and not get a V8 one :)

mustang convertibles from hertz are the boggo v6s. they're so cheap and nasty, although it was the previous model
