To those who moved to PII from C2D/Q

PII X3 gets its butty slapped by overclocked Wolfdale in everything but predictive tasking (encoding/rendering) thanks to its extra core . . . however once you bring Yorkfield into the picture then it's checkmate! :D

PII price is nice and there is a spot for it in the market so nice one AMD I say :)

Wouldn't mind a little play myself but from all I read the PII is just a little Steroid jab to keep the AMD fanboys happy! :o

I do like the low latency design of PII but the same results can be achieved with Eaglelake P45, good kit of ram and a bit of know how!

More of a sidestep than anything. I don't really encode anything so i don't really notice that side of things. I would say gaming perfromance is ultimately unnoticeably different and all other tasks are done in pretty much the same time too.

One drop in performance i did notice was in neatimage which is an image noise reduction program. When performing a reduction it takes longer with the X3 than the C2Q's i've had and a touch longer than with a high clocked Wolfdale.

Recently had both an e8500 @ 4.5ghz and a q9450 @ 3.6ghz previous to this chip.

Last thing i ill say is that the AMD system does seem snappier. Opening programs and starting new explorer sessions are virtually instant whereas with the core2 system there was always a slight delay. I've had around 8 C2D chip/mobo combos and always found the same.

TBH the older X2 range from s939 onwards felt similar which leads me to believe it might have something to do with the lower latencies provided by the onboard memory controller.
