In my world Canned is slang for being fired which is what the OP is saying.

Cained would be being whipped as in "getting the cain" at School, hence the barbaric practice and 3 pairs of trousers comment

I got laid off back in October, been with the company 4 years, I was over the moon when I was told, started to hate the work and was ready to move on. Helped me kick into gear and look for other jobs.

I had/have credit cards & loan but still managed fine, even managed to get a weekend away out of it.

Got a job within a month but didnt like it, got another now and loving it, and the money is the best yet

Dont worry yourself, I always think things in life happen for a reason, will turn out alright in the end
