NEC LCD24WMGX3 Professional Gaming 24" Widescreen

Took the plung. Couldn't work out if i should have gone for the Dell. I knew i had to make a decision and went for the cheapest!

Will get it on Wednesday. Hope no dead pixels.

hi ive the NEC 2690wuxi ive only found 2 words to describe it one starts with f&ends with g and 2nds awesome as i play alsorts cod.5 plays wow graphics are like being there even cod.2 old game but thats so clear and crisp so yes i think great for gaming looked/tried others but nothing i found came close looked at reveiws all said great.it uses an H.ips panel.

this!!!

As reported by someone else earlier my monitor NEC 24mwgx3 was also opened and then resealed. This one also turned out to have a dead pixel, i suspect that some cherry picking is going on.

By that i am suggesting that people close to the supply are finding ones they wish to purchase themselves.

Who has bought one of these or another monitor and found it open?

Mine, you cant prove it can you but you just know. The replacement from NEC was virgin and perfect. I think DSR has a lot to answer for, I mean what shop can afford not too sell them on. They should however inform you if it has been opened. For me i want to purchase something and it is brand new, not second hand. Anyway the replacement i received is fantastic and a pleasure to use.

Brill monitor,

yes i was also under the impression mine had been opened before, i have three green stuck pixels.
I also am still wondering if anyone has virgin hd that they can comfirm they get no screen tear?

Thanks

its weird how us three all had opened ones and dead / stuck pixels...

it does imply cherry picking to me. As in mine and your cases there are not enough dead / stuck pixels to warrant them being returned by previous buyers, so OCuk would not of had to recieve them back. Also all the cables in mine were new and sealed.

Which indicates to me people cherry picking from stock.

It would be intresting to see how many occurences of 'opened' monitors happen with lesser screens.

have you tried to call NEC mate? their warranty department is really good and it would be worth seeing what they say, especially if the dead pixel is in the middle of the screen I think you have a good chance.

UK number is 08701 201160 for their LCD warranty line.

If all else fails it might be worth getting in touch with OCUK shop staff as they should not be able to sell new items that have obviously been opened before "as new"

I agree with the DSR too. It seems unfair to me that i may have been sent a monitor that was known not to function 100%.
I know that 3 stuck pixels is within spec but being a gamer playing games with lots of dark scenes they really are noticeable for long periods at a time.
If i had been entered into the lcd lottery the proper way (receiving an unopened, never viewed before monitor) i would just grin and bear it. However if my suspicions are right (the monitor has the shiney frame which is easily scratched, mine definetely had the odd scratch, albeit very fine ones)then i feel somewhat cheated, as i was gauranteed stuck pixels as a result.

Hmmm, I also think mine was not properly completely sealed.Plus of course I have one stuck pixel (red) - noticeable in windows mainly, and one black (dead?) - almost unnoticeable (but still sucks).

But since I am in Czech Republic, I guess I can't call UK NEC : / .

i agree...i can accept the lcd lottery if everyone has one ticket but if people keep getting tickets till they win, it deeply annoys me...

Is there a way we could organise ourselves a bit and perhaps speak to OCuk or NEC? as there would 'appear' to be a habit of this sort of thing....and it would be good for return customers to feel secure in not being cheated. Its worth noting that all we have is an apparant habit of opened monitors in this one range....at the bare minimum an explanation would be usefull. It could be a mere power plug need changing. Thats happened when i worked at a big music equipment seller.

could you guys email me your contact details....thethoughtcriminal @ gmail . com

at least then if this thread gets pulled...we can still talk.

heh funny you guys should mention that, when i got my NEC 24" from OCUK
i also thought someone had opened my box or the box had been opened becuse the clear celitape was not smooth it was like it had been lifted then put back down in some rushed crumpled state lol

and that pannel had 1 very bright white pixel *impossible to not notice under gameing or playing dark games.*
and one bright blue pixel on black background.

i phoned nec, and they exchanged it for a brand new tested model for me
it arrived and i have been nothing but happy with the pannel. :D

its an amazing pannel no deal pixels, no backlight bleed... nec where very good that way and very helpfull on the phone.

got to give OCUK credit though they where good enough to refund me the diffrence from £410 what i payed to £399 what it costs now.. ;) as i was 1 day short of there price drop on it heh :D

Professional gaming screen my arse! What will they try next to extract coins from our stretched pockets?

Stupid price, stupid marketing, stupid if you buy into it imho *shakes head*

Get a low cost high response Dell or Sammy, does pretty much the same thing as this.

You havent got a god dam clue what the hell your talking about.
if your going to badmouth a product you better god dam post the facts.

IMHO this montor wipes the floor with all those monitors below its price range and quite a lot above it..

Just got my NEC 24wmgx3. No dead pixels fortunately.
But I have severe banding/dithering ? on some modes. Specifically STD-2.. cannot remember the other ones, one of the game modes for sure though. When i put it in STD-1 mode i have no visible banding.
Whenever the banding is visible, I noticed that CR Optimizer and IV mode is available on the menu..
Anyone can confirm this issue?

Sorry to hear that, I had the phantom delivery man today. Stayed in all day camped behind the front door and waited, but still i missed him. James bond could learn a thing or two from these couriers. Really why cant they phone and say they are'nt going to make it instead of saying you were not in and you were carded when you were not. So were was your pixel TLH and why not RMA it.

tbh I can't see it all the time, only in very dark movies etc. and even then I have to be close. I think it was more of a bother at first because I was used to a much smaller monitor and sitting closer to it. Now I've gotten used to the size of this thing I tend to sit further away and the one white pixel isn't as much of an issue as it was at the start, still would have been nice to get a perfect panel though. My pixel is just under 4 inches north east of centre.
