Vista is just odd!

So i've come to the conclusion that Vista has some right odd quirks!

Don't get me wrong, I love it. And yes, it is far better than XP.

Anyway, my issue if you like:

The same file from an external USB drive. Two HP laptops both with Vista HP.

Transfer speed laptop one = 16mb/s
Transfer speed laptop two = 29mb/s

Anyone any idea why?

Both have defender "off" and both are running AVG Free 8.5

Indeed AVG's detection rate in my experience has been awful.

When I found out that my Uni offers free Kaspersky licences to students I never looked back!

No to all the above, especially worn ports

Avast winds me up with its constant moaning and pop ups. AntiVir i'll have to give a go.

It's not an issue as such as it was a one time shot at transferring 45Gb onto both the laptops, both were clean builds but one was a G45 chipset (the fast one) maybe this has something to do with it?

ahh, figured they were identical...

install chipset drivers for both, one might just have a crap usb chipset....

well if the usb is tired, its not going to work as fast as a less tired new usb connection is it!!!!
