I'm sitting here sitting here sweating like a paedo hiding behind an ice cream van. Now, I'm not having sexy alone time, sexy time with a lady friend, or exercising which are all situations where I don't mind being hot.

The trouble is my room. Its in a terraced house with one either side, the windows are double glazed, and the two windows I have face the sun from morning to dusk. Since they face the street, I don't particularly like having the windows open since scouse kids aren't quiet (or considerate) while playing chicken with the traffic. I also have my PC here and a fairly warm AMD cpu.

This is what annoyed me most last year, since my method, which was effective, was to place a fan by an open window and blow the hot air in my room out.

Bar air conditioners (too expensive), drinks (not really effective overall) or being naked (people tell me to dress), is there any way you guys think use to keep cool?

The seals on your windows sound very good, so just seal your door and fill the room full of water and icecubes.

Put your pc on a rubber ring, and lie on a lilo while your online.

sorted!

Only decent idea I have is to get some good blackout blinds. You'll be in the dark, though.

I remember heat waves in London a few years back (2003?) when you could sit in our living room for fear of passing out. I moved the TV & PC to the bedroom (where it was cooler). Took a cold shower and chucked on a T-Shirt while still wet. It wasn't perfect, but it helped...

Ceiling fan, cheap and effective.

Alternatively lose weight (assuming you're not skinny), it's not going to be fun when/if it hits 35c this year :p

I'm not sure what you mean? My blinds have a a thick layer of black material inbetween the outer and inner layers. This prevents light getting through them and keeps the room very dark even in bright sunlight, and also very cool.

Ok thanks.

change rooms?

I have the biggest room by far and pay the same rent as other tennants.

I'm not sure I can stick one in since I don't own the house, I suppose I could ask the landlord...

My BMI's 23.5 thank you! :p

...same with this.

Sorry, I meant they're normal curtains, but have white material facing the glass. I might ask if the landlord can install blinds though which would require less work on his part.

save up and buy air con. weren't b&Q selling them for a ton last year.

Other than that an electric fan, but they aren't ideal.

OIC, shared accommodation. The simplest solution by far is to leave your windows open. Have you got a thermometer so we know what kind of temperature we're dealing with to start with?

Weren't they 'Air Coolers' which aren't as good IIRC, could be wrong though.

Should use pretty much the same kind of light fitting and could always be swapped back when you move :)

P.S Lower than mine, you should be enjoying it like me! :D

I'm not sure, I have rubbish tolerance to heat (I'm British Indian wtf), and I get annoyed at anything about 22. It was deffo higher than that when I came in and then stepped back...:(

Are you posting from Mumbai?

If you're this flustered in cool April, what are you going to do when a real heatwave comes along?

Lol, don't even go there, I was just relieved we had a **** summer last year, but the year before was nothing short of painful :/

As said, I opened my windows and pointed a fan to blow hot air out of them, but this isn't ideal.
