Took my bosses X5 to a local tyre fitters this morning as the front two were quite low on tread. Took it to Kwik fit as he just wanted it done and back asap. Ended up buying Michelins but nearly fell over when they gave me the bill.

Had considered a X5 as my next purchase but did not realise the associated running costs, £300 a corner i think i will look for something else.

Cant see the appeal of driving this sort of thing, but then again I've never driven something like it...

Its fantastic to drive but agree it is a pointless car being as what, 99% will never see a muddy lane let alone a field.

I just cant get over the £300 a corner bill for tyres.

Eccy thump! How much are the tyres from where normal penny pinchers buy them from?

My bosses Range Rover tyres weren't that expensive and they're arguably bigger. I presume you're paying for low profile to fit bigger wheels on the X5?

Plus going to Kwik Fit and getting it down there and then doesn't help. Always going to pay a premium.

in my experience, X5 drivers = *****!

I am sure there are many out there that aren't but the ones i've come across seem to take the BMW "I own the road" image extrememly seriously, especially as they are sitting above the traffic and feel safe in their massive 4x4!

On topic, I remember my father-in-law spending nearly that one tyres for his old bentley :(

I heard they were coming out of your wages anyway so I wouldn't worry ;)

If looked around (iirc) they'd be ~£200 front and ~£240 rear

Edit: This isnt the one in MK by the 2 shell garages is it?

they saw you coming. what were they, 19"?
even if they were 20"s, XL tyres shouldn't be anywhere near that much if you shop around. i guess he couldnt be arsed to shop around though

It's £1200 because it's KwikFit. That could easily be brought down to £180 ish per corner which isn't *as* bad.
