what happened to the days when a hazardous vehicle had a couple of orange flashing lights to warn of overhanging parts etc, a holiday home being moved for instance

now every truck or lorry has mountains of orange lights flashing away on the front. these super bright LED ones, 4 or 5 of those going at different rates and times. its causing more of a distraction than anything (eyes are naturally drawn to bright objects afaik)

has anyone else noticed the abundance of orange lights on eveything? is there a new law where you need all these or can drivers put up as many lights as they want?

one or two lights in the right area should be enough, combined with our own awareness imo

Pending the vehicles standard factory fit lights are working there is no restriction to the number of lights a vehicle has.

I know what you mean tho feels like a christmas tree is going past half the time

Vehicles with lights are built to meet local and European safety laws. So all the extra Christmas lights will be mandatory.

I'd say people driving about without any lights on drives me more bonkers.

Scotland agrees with you.

We have about 100m visibility round here due to fog and 90% of the people i have passed have no lights on.

My pet hate is people that have one light thats blinding you and another that is blown.

Dont people check their vehicles any more.

I was under the impression it was your legal obligation to carry out daily checks.

I know if truck drivers dont and have something damaged they will get hammered for it.
