I need some help, 4870 1G or the power colour 4890.

I would also like to know what the difference is between the 4890 range. They all look like they have the same specs but some are more expensive because u get a load of software included. Is that right?

The price differences are partly due to what goodies they include, at the bottom of each cards specificatio is a list of included items, some include benchmarks and HAWX, one appears to include a leather mousemat and only the most expensive card pre overclocked (the rest have the same core/memory frequencies), however the most expensive pair have a 2 year warranty :)

Thanks, if I get the 4890 i will go for the cheapest then. Concerned about noise tho, one guy has already reviewed it and it was very load when OC

I'd go for the 1GB 4870 personally. There's about a 13% performance increase from the 4870 to the 4890, and a fair whack more price.

As for the differences between the cards; welcome to the market - it's an odd one (and not similar to anything else I can think of); 95% of the cards are made in the same factory and the AIBs (e.g. Gigabyte, PowerColor, Asus) whack stickers on them, put them in nice boxes and sell you the card. Therefore, when choosing between identical cards, look at the warranty available and the accessories included.

Some cards have custom coolers and overclocks pre-applied, which can be worthwhile buying if they are reasonably priced; for example, the £160 Gainward GTX260 available here.

Heh. Hmmm. Bought a GTX260 last week. Just bought a Radeon 4890 right now. Ahem.

Got a pay rise, what can I say :D

That, and, I bought a new PSU and needed to get something else to qualify for cheap shipping. :D

Bang for bucks the 4870. For the fastest and buying the Asus 4890 and overclocking to 1ghz for the performance.

Depends on the res you play at?

No point going to a 90 from a 70 imo, be like going from an 8800 GT to a GTS, pointless.

Nice review on toms hardware saying the same thing, there is a difference between the 4870 & 4890 but not enough to justify upgrading. But of course if you currently have an 8800GT the 4890 is very tempting...
