A 3.6ghz Q6600 will be able to throw mostly anything that's thrown at it for quite a long time yet
I have my heart set on the asus maximus II.
So after weeks and weeks of reading and researching i stumbled across this site HERE!

So basically i have found that with my RAM
(Crucial tracer memory 800MHz 4-4-4-12)
I should set a 1:2 ratio and aim for an FSB of 400. this will get my ram running at its default speeds and give it the best theoretical peak bandwidth and some sexy CL4 latencies

But Im a bit worried about multipliers... With a x9 i will be hitting 3.6GHz
Is this even possible? I know every chip is different.
I used to have an old MSI P45 Platinum. I couldn't for the life of me get it stable at that frequency. It would go for weeks and then out of the blue

Prime temps were never above 65 which i was happy with. I think i had a high vcore running through it... 1.45? maybe? i cant remember.
But anyway i was told it was my ram causing the faults and so i got a refund and it replaced. with the 800Mhz stuff instead of the 1066. (thank you crucial).
BASICALLY among all the crap i have told you lol.
1. is the asus board from OCUK (where else

2. Is 3.6GHz a too optimistic clock speed to be aiming for?
3. Should i drop the multiplier to 8 and make to with 3.2GHz?
Thanks a million for all the replies. Everyone of you are all legends!
Cheers and take care.
