Do you take multivitamin tablets?

Just a daily multivitamin and an fish oil capsule.

Costs next to nothing.

Not sure if they do any good at all. Probably go straight through without being absorbed.

I think the fish oil capsule should work though.

one a day, i also hear from a few people that cod liver oil has helped them a bit, althought i don't know how much of it is in the mind.

The OP asked about multivitamin tablets. There is strong statistical evidence (that is, peer reviewed published cohort studies) that show the health benefits of many supplements for example, Omega-3 and Omega-6 (cardio-vascular and musculo-skeletal). Plant extracts have been shown to lower the absorption of cholesterol by the bowel and prevent prostatic enlargement.
You have to be careful though. For many years prople with arthritic symptoms have been chucking glucosamine down their throats at some financial cost.
Recent studies show little or no benefits.

Just wondering...i've decided to start taking them because i'm not exactly a healthy eater the majority of the time. :o

Does anyone else take them? If so why? For how long? Notice any difference?

ABC plus multivitamins and EPA fish oil concentrate 1000mg from H&B.

You'd be better off working some oily fish (not more than 2-3 times a week max) and a source of vitamin C, etc. can be juice but more natural source preferable, into your diet.

I used to take multi vitamins for years with an average diet and noticed very little difference between taking them and not, then I started multivit + iron and that resulted in some side effects :S then I started adding pilchards, etc. to my diet and a couple of glasses of fresh juice a day and I feel far better and more energised.

Nope - I don't see the point.

Anything that is peddled by nutritionists like Gillian McKeith and Patrick Holford makes me highly dubious of their value.

I've taken multivitamins for about a month and not noticed any difference, once they're done I think I'll give it a miss.
Only took them to see if I felt "better" during the days.

I think I'll go for a bit of cod liver oil though, that's something that I do think works and my knees are a bit creaky...

So Patrick Holford is a nutritionist is he? He has no formal qualifications in the subject except for the one he awarded himself!
His only qualification is 2.2 BSc. in psychology.
Your point is taken about so called experts.

Love the sig btw, did you create it yourself ;)

No multi vits for me, just a well balanced diet with plenty fruit, veg & fish.

I do however take 1500 mg glucosamine daily as I've smashed my ankle up and have destroyed some of the catriledge, time will tell if it does any good.

I take the occaisional Centrum Performance multi-vitamin. Its quite high in B Vits and has way more than your RDA. I only take a couple a week or more if I've done some intensive exercise as I feel spent otherwise. They definitely help me recover faster.

* Branded multi-vits are expensive. Like £6 for 30 pills for the above product!

Yes that's quite true, but to be honest it doesn't make much difference to me whether they are qualified or not! ;)
