Hi there,

I purchased the ATI 4890 Yesterday, i am having problems on how to enable HDMI mode.

I am using a 22" HDTV using a HDMI cable to the DVI to HDMI converter.

I connect the cables all up and turn on HDMI on my tv and i get this message "no signal"

Any Help would be great

Or a step-by-step guide :)

cheers

Uninstall all drivers, reinstall the latest versions. Do you see anything (Bios, windows loading screen)? If you're not seeing anything at all then double check all connections are in properly, as you should see something at some point, unless the TV isn't on the right channel etc.

(Typing with a wireless keyboard on a PC connected to a 42" plasma by HDMI now)

Step by step:

Plug everything in, making sure all connectors and adaptors are plugged in properly (easy to get it slightly out).

Card--->Adaptor----->HDMI----->TV

When you reach Windows without drivers you should be in default low res that your TV can cope with.

Install 9.3 ATI drivers (which include HDMI audio drivers).

Set ATI HDMI driver to default audio device after restart,

Enjoy (set correct resolution of course).

Should be that simple.

If you see nothing at all, check connections etc for a bad connection, and your TV settings. If you screen goes blank after the windows loading screen, go into safemode, remove your drivers, and reinstall, or if with Vista boot in VGA/640x480 mode so you can set a different refresh rate etc.

If i boot the computer up using HDMI cable, i get the same error message on my screen "no signal"

I have to swap back to vga to see anything...

Has vista seen the second display? Usually a window comes up asking you if the new display is to extend the desktop, or to copy the desktop onto.

I am using windows XP Home edition...

If i go Start > control panel > appearance and themes > display

then click on the settings tab it can see i have 2 outputs and going threw the resolutions i can see my native resolution which i had on my 4870 .

But with the 4890 it cant even see that im connecting to a HDTV when i connect the cable i can hear the windows sound when it detect something new has been inserted like a flashstick

9.3 drivers don't work with my 4890. i can only use the supplied disk atm. waiting for 9.4 atm.

Yeah there is no drivers for the 4890's yet as they have just been released, 9.4's will probably be out on the 15th, as ATi normally release their drivers around the 18th, but on a Wednesday, which is the 15th :)

I hope so, i have got a LAN to go to soon.

Will this driver fix many of the display problems?
