Hi.

I'm of to Australia soon and I'm interested in doing some conservation work out there. I would prefer to do some marine conservation but I think that's going to be way too expensive so I've been looking at some land based work. Here's a link to a couple I've looked at (they're probably the same actually, I haven't had time to have a thorough look):

Anyone ever done any work like this? What was it like? Any companies that have a good/bad reputation?

Probably looking to do it around Melbourne and Sydney, maybe Brisbane but further North it might be too hot!

Thanks for any help

You will probably have more luck posting on www.gapyear.com. A lot of these companies take a large cut as profit. Your best bet is contacting whereever you want to go directly and trying to organise it that way.

I have a friend who used to work for Griffith University ( Brisbane) where they had a large tourist sustainability and conservation dept, check them out.

Try arounbd Adelaide, and the Rest of SA we also have quite a few places like that and lots of conservation parks

Thanks for the advice so far. I have already posted on the gapyear forums but there's always a much better response on here!

Do you know the names of any decent places around you Zip? I'm not planning on going to Adelaide but may be elsewhere in SA.

Thanks.

Like Conservation Parks?

We have:
Cleland
Deep Creek
Kangaroo Island
Flinders Ranges
Then some down the limestone coast.

There are much more but i just cant think of anything off the top of my head at the moment.
