Email details and website visits to be stored by the government as of today

Anyone doing anything seriously dodgy would do so through an encrypted connection (tor etc) unless they're extremely stupid. This is still going way too far though.

I heard about this a few days ago, it's not on at all. Still have fun keeping a check on what I BIN LADEN read SADDAM each JIHAD morning PRAISE ALLAH!! while KILL BROWN!! I BESTIALITY read PIPE-BOMB the HATE AMERICAN!! news.

Suffice it to say this system has not been set up to fight terror. It has been set up so they can extend yet more control over us, so they can interfere with even more aspects of our lives.

And if that isn't bad enough, it's us that have to pay for it all. Why oh why do we put up with this? Sometimes I have to wonder if this country is worth the effort.

Hmm.. surely if I'm not using my ISP's email servers it's fairly untrackable though (bar my email provider releasing information to them).

The content may not be stored yet (and I emphasise yet), but what's to stop them, after the next terror attack, from saying "Well, if we had access to the content of the email we could have picked it up early and acted on it. As such, this is law from now on". It certainly would not surprise me. Infact I even expect it.

This is not the way round it.

people are truely morons to think this is okay, this isnt the end goal this is a stepping stone towards what they want they do it in stages because most people are to retarded to realise what is happening.

its small changes gradually leading to something most people would flat out refuse to accept if it happened over night

I'm fairly confident that the government wouldn't do anything they shouldn't with the information they'll gain about peoples porn habits unless you have real bad porn habits.

I wish people had more faith in our lovely socialist government and the good intentions they have.

Um this isn't really good although I suppose it does help if any of my work gets 'lost' and posted on the net while under nda - you can blame the isp/goverment :)

Hmm, not keen on the voip bit, I run my business line through voip and it just so happens bt is heading towards a ip addressed phone system meaning it could also fall under this terminology meaning they get to record land lines too.

I wouldn't want to be in the isp's shoes, the amount of data they will need to record will be quite a burden on resources and I wouldn't be surprised if the prices go up - oh the tax payer will be coughing up again, with what fresh air?
