Parkinson: 'Jade Goody was a wretched role model'

I had a right row with my Mrs about a month ago over all this, I made the mistake of pointing out she was a nothing that was infamous for being thick and slightly racist, yet she gets Cancer which is a terrible thing and all of a sudden she ****ing Princess Di part deux !

I cant see how people think she is someone to look upto, yeah she had cancer, and yes that is a bad hand in life, but many people get it unfortunately. What makes her a saint?

Parky is a legend. Goody is not.

As others have said, the fact that she got cancer, and died, and was survived by young children is very sad, but she's nothing special.
 
Im glad someones said it, I wouldnt wish cancer on anyone, but that doesnt change the fact she was an awful role model. Just cos shes dead changes nothing.

Thank God. There were many, many of us who considered the media circlejerk little more than atrocious, faux-compassion used to generate revenue based on public platitudes. And though I agree with Parkinson, I imagine it won't be too long before Britain completely loses its perspective and such outspoken attitudes dwindle further into nonexistence.

What's your point? Does that grant her some kind of immunity to criticism? I've not done anything particularly noteworthy during my life but then I doubt I'll get an enormous funeral procession or such ludicrous amounts of media attention either :confused:

I can never understand why people defend others on the grounds that their critics are no higher in status than they are.

In all honesty, that has made my day.

I can only totally echo the thoughts of Parky here. He is absolutely spot on.

It's a sad day when anyone dies, but Jade Goody is not a martyr she is nothing and never was anything.

12 months ago she was despised in Britain, yet she gets cancer and it's all little Miss Goody two shoes again.

Plenty of heinous people have had terrible diseases, it doesn't mean they're a martyr.

Would you proclaim Hitler a martyr for raising awareness of vegetarianism? Or Parkinsons disease?

Is Kurt Cobain a martyr for having Crohn's Disease?

No, they're not.

People should be recognised for the good or the bad that they have done in their life not for a disease that they had.
