The camera will be the D40/(maybe also d60) replacement.
There were also rumors that it would include a SB-400 style swivel flash.

Yeah Its the entry level replacement but there is also rumors of the HD ready D400 with 16mp

yeah I'm quite interested in the D400 (I've almost convinced she who holds the purse strings) but when that comes out the D300 might take a decent price drop and make it much more desireable. The 1080i video does sound interesting. It's something that I've often though would be nice to have for the odd thing that would be better videoed.

Pretty mcuh waiting for the same thing.

D400 would be nice, if the rice was affordable. But it wont be. The differences between the D300 and d400 will be small. Perhpas video being the only noteworthy feature. The AF will be the smae, can't really make the screens bigger than 3", res is fine on the screen. I don't care for more than 12MP.
The only thing that would make me pay the money for the D400 was if the noise performance got close to the D700. But it wont.

Hoping for cheap 2nd hand D300 at close to new D90 prices.

So, any predictions?

I'm saying;

Live view (duh, with a flip out screen)
720p video
12.1mp
ISO 100-6,400
Still no internal focusing motor
3fps

:) live view is starting to get alright aint it?

Meeeh i would prefer the D90, or something a little faster :( i still don't get the whole video on a SLR thing :(

I don't get it as a dedicated video recorder but there have been a very large number of times when I have wished I could video something rather than taking a photo which often doesn't do a scene justice.

When Live view was first anounced and demonstrated people didn't really get it for SLR's now like you they are comming around to the idea, just wait it will soon be a standard feature on all slr's and we'll be wandering how we lived without it!

How do I access the Market place?, I'm selling my totally mint D300 and Sigma 18-50 Ex F2.8 Macro and want to place an ad in there?.

(nothing to do with the camera as shown above I can assure you lol)

Don't read the above, I just found out how in FAQ just under the bit where it says not to ask on the forums lol.
It's in the sticky too :p. Post a link to the MM thread in the sticky to bring it to the attention of everyone here :)

As above, really, once live-view was established in dSRLRs, it was hardly a remarkable leap. Those screens have been available in other cameras before.

Flip out screen just sounds like something to easily get broken to me. They can keep the flippy floppy gimmicks on the lower end cameras, but please don't put them on the Prosumer/Pro cameras.

this is my concern too.

for example. The Canon 1D is designed to accept a battering. If a footballer plows through one on a pitch with a flip out screen you know its gonna get ripped right off.
There are a number of devices to do the same thing such as zigaview screens.
