sickening police violence

he was apparently a homeless guy with drink problems who had been hanging around the kettled off area near RBS all day

if anything the policeman pushing him was doing him a favour - not a great idea to bimble about when they are clearing the area with dogs - doesn't look like they intentionally knocked him to the ground or anything more like they gave him a firm shove in order to get him to move on and he fell.

That would explain why he fell over then...As I said.

Laying a finger is one thing, being forced to the ground is another

Forced? He was pushed, then tripped over his own feet.

I cant believe you guys believe that the police have the right to do this and this guy somehow deserved this assault, this is clearly wrong AND for me sickening

That was later.

He didn't get up, and have a heart attack that very second.
I'm not sure "moments later" (the article unfortunately doesn't give times) is far enough after the act to be able to conclude there was no link. I guess the courts will decide that.

The bloke was not a rioter and had (as we all do) the right to walk along a street how the damn well he liked. The police used to be there to serve and protect, now they are there to enforce statutes and collect revenues, furthermore, the psychology of the officers is all wrong, especially in this situation. The officer is out of order and should be investigated and be subject to the laughable system of justice that has manifested itself in this country.

I predict that they cannot identify the officer in question and no charges will be brought against him. The video is damning, no doubt about it. However, where is the footage of cctv cameras that seem to infest every town and city in the nation, surely that will reveal that the incident and clear up any misunderstanding. I suspect they weren't working at the time, how convenient! (oops!)
This stinks and so will the inevitable cover up.

I see a man who is taking the pee out of the officers and walking slowly

After watching that clip about 5 times I can't see him saying anything to the police until after he was struck and pushed, hitting his head on the floor by the looks of it. He might have been obstructing and provoking the police by walking slowly, but that doesn't justify being hit with a baton and pushed from behind to the floor. I wonder what will come of this - if a member of the public did this to someone walking slowly in front of them wouldn't it would be a pretty clear case of manslaughter? Judging by the relatively calm nature of the crowd it'll surely be pretty difficult to justify resorting to violence as they did.

the police doing their job is not sickening. maybe continental style, a tear gas shell in the face would be better?

That's only traffic cameras though (assuming they didn't get the emergency ruling allowing them to be used).

He quite clearly moves in to their path twice before being pushed.

Still doesn't detract from the fact that he did nothing that warranted being hit with the baton and pushed to the ground like he was. That copper was more than likely all fired up with adrenaline pumping, wanted to take it out on somebody and that poor sod was the in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I don't know what's worse, the action of that Police Officer or the 'experts' in here actually condoning it. I find both quite disturbing.
