***OFFICAL*** Left 4 Dead Thread!

I bought Tomb Raider: Aniversary on special this weekend. Throughly loved it. never owned a Tomb Raider game before.


Does no-one else get slightly bored of the same 4 levels on L4D at the moment?
Im beginning to find it rather repetative... :(
 
I like the music as well :)
I would hate to completely destroy such a wonderful tune, having to hear it every time I boot L4D up.

It does look way too busy.

Just two weeks to go my friends, I can hardly hide my pant crease.
 
I started a lobby last night and invited loads of OcUK but I also had some IRL friends who were joining so played with them in the end.

Did the OcUK game go ahead in the end? I know Hops, Fish, ScareySquirrel were in there as I left. Should have filled up quick!

Just interested to see how you guys got on!?

Yea the game started, not sure how it got on though l4f crashed on me and there was no space in server when went to join again.
 
Had a brilliant game with some of the Gurkha/OCUK lads last night. Some great teamwork and skill, specially when the rest of my team managed to destroy all the survivors at the end of NM4, when I was on to the phone to my dad for the whole level :D
 
played a good few games last night that were epic, some for the wrong reasons lol.

Found were having to avoid the search key atm as it has a habit of puttin us in OCUK private 4 which is no good to any1 at the moment with the lag issues. So we went for random servers which is ok until someone drops out and the spot is instantly filled by a random.

Anyway had some classic moments in the games and some pure comedy gold, gg's to all involved.

And to answer the question earlier about if were bored with teh same 4 maps.

I can honestly say a big fat NO to that question, i still enjoy the game loads altho i find i havent played campaigns in a while. The 2 new vs maps and survivor mode will add many more hours of gaming and if they get the SDK out then i cant see me playing much else for the next year or so :)
 
Server 4 is still playing up? El sucko :/

If you like, I can switch one of the OcUK 1 or 2 servers over to search key "ocuk1" for now - you can use that until Seaniboy is online to sort out his server.
 
Dude, please do that. I'm having the same problem as sharpy mentioned with the OcUK search key.Every single time its 4 or 6 which are fine in terms of latency, just server performance is abysmal and has been for about a week roughly.

If you could put 'ocuk1' as the key for the decent ones that would be brilliant for now!

The only issue I've seen with server 6 is following the recent update, the UDP receive buffer grows in size over about a week and then starts to drop incomming data once the server buffer limit is reached. I don't know if this is a new bug or if the incomming traffic has increased resulting in the buffer not clearing the traffic quickly enough.

Killing the secondary l4d process and allowing it to respawn clears the buffer but I haven't yet found a way to automate this or too set a size limit on the buffer.

I had a look through the c_vars but didn't find anything.

Is the poor performance constant or does it occur periodically?

I'm pretty sure it's 6 mate but not 100% sure, I know it is one of the two previously mentioned.

When I've been on recently it's fine latency wise, just there are issues with zombie hordes moving like there is stupid packet loss, warping about the place is the best way to describe it.

It seems that in any open area or situation where the AI is needed there seems to be problems. Not when you're sat in the safe room waiting to start.

This happened to everyone I think (it's not my PC acting up as we all move server and its fine).

Best I can do, if I play on them again I will note down the IP. I play in the evening if that has any meaning? Between 8-11 mostly.

But thanks for hosting the servers for OcUK, muchly appreciated! I know the resources and time you guys spend doing it so a big thumbs up from me :)
 
myself, lyon, rob, schumi and gecco had a go ona server tonight playing Death Toll and Dead Air on vs although buggy it really gave an idea of how fantastic those maps will be cant wait :)
 
Aekeron: does -autoupdate work on the OCUK servers? I'm finding that I have to manually update mine despite having that flag set, which is a pain in the arse.

had latency issues the past few days and was in the middle of a pretty fun game when steam disconnected me for no apparent reason. When i made it back on to the server I was kicked and now cant rejoin because im banned....

I doubt you've been banned on purpose. Certain disconnection issues can make it appear that you've been banned temporarily - you'll probably find that you can connect fine again in a short while.

I'd have thought that the admins would let me/decto/seaniboy know if any proper bannings had taken place.
