Well, it finally arrived. Seemed like I'd been waiting forever. Or at least since before Christmas.

Anyhow, I've now done 500 miles in it and I must say that I'm absolutely blown away with how good it is. I'm glad I decided to change the colour. I've seen tango ones and I think blue looks much better. The paint really looks good when the sun hits it.

I'm amazed at the ride quality. It has a lovely smooth ride but is really sharp and responsive in the corners.

I'm glad I waited and got the 1.6 TDCI. It sounds quiet and pulls nicely. I love the layout of everything. The seats are really comfortable and hold you in well, and everything feels well put together.

I was sure when I got this that it is at least as big as my parents old Focus, and now I've put them side to side I can see that it is.

You can see that although the car is shorter, the cabin is longer both front and rear. Athough it does have a slightly smaller boot than the focus.

There is only one thing about the car that is slightly worrying me. MPG. I'm not finding anywhere near the claims that Ford make for the car. Yesterday I tried going over the top to get as much economy as possible. I drove behind a lorry at 56mph, I coasted down every hill and even doing all that I was only able to average 68mpg. Driving economically at 70-75 today I only averaged 55mpg. Amazing what a huge difference speed makes. Still I think its a bit of a cheek for Ford to claim it will do 76mpg extra urban and 67 combined. Perhaps it needs more running in before I will see the kind of figures they claim. Perhaps its just the mpg meter on the thing not being terribly accurate. When I next fill up I'll be able to get a more accurate figure.

Anyhow, overall I'm very happy with my purchase. I know I could have got no end of cars for the money. But to be honest, this is exactly the car I wanted and perfectly suits my needs.

I cant be bothered to find your original thread but isn't that what everyone said when you justified this car with tales of huge MPG?

Looks nice. Wouldn't be my choice for the money, but seems like you're happy with it.

Nice car but wrong engine. I would have gone with the 120ps petrol and put up with the lower mpg. It will improve when it loosens up and don't go by the computer, just work out the averages when you fill up.

I was and still am hoping the mpg figures that ford, and other reviews claim with this car are real.

Either way, its still going to be pretty economical and will be a lot more comfortable than going to work by motorbike.

Fortunately, other things have changed as well since that thread. I got a decent payout from work which has meant that I only owe a couple of grand on it.

Positives: You decided against the baby poop brown colour....and..... nope, sorry, cant see any more.

EDIT: no, wait, its got 09 on the plate, thats uber leets.

Ha ha, thats probably because you're 21. If I was 21 I wouldn't of even considered a car like this. I was looking at coupes, hot hatches etc. Stuff to impress my mates and show off to women.

Can't of been much of a pay bump. Unless you're doing mega miles, the Petrol will be cheaper and when you are doing mega miles doing it in a Fiesta = fail.

Unless the corporate image is Housewife or Girl... I dont see how this fits? Surely a decent corporate image could be achieved with, say, a 2nd hand executive Saloon for similar money....?
