The Hospital CH4

I get wasted every other weekend yet never get in trouble with the police or have any accidents. Some people are tossers, alcohol only amplifies this.

I think the irresponsible drunks who use the NHS should have to pay for their own treatment. It's unfair that we all have to foot the bill for their self inflicted injures and illnesses. It's not just drinking either...

The problem is where do you draw the line?

If you make drunks pay what about smokers?

Fat people?
People who don't exercise?
People who play dangerous sports?
People who play football on an amatuer level on a weekend perhaps ?(apparantly this fills the ER at weekends due to injuries)
People who choose to do a dangerous (but hence well paid) occupation? (my other half was a vet and they were forever getting injuried and going to ER)

Its either free for everybody or free for nobody IMO.

actually made me want to work there looks like a rewarding job.

how cynical was that doctor though although you can't blame her.

i thought he said it was suppose to be 100mg, but she got something which was 100mg per ml and she was given 1000ml...but we were talking through that.

Yeah that sounds about right, i knew it had something to do with 100mg per some amount of ml but couldnt remember the figure (whether it was 1ml or 10ml).

I was more ****** off that 4 weeks later the stupid wench in question was more impressed with the fact that she only spent £20 and it wasnt even her money and she got a free taxi (albeit an Ambulance).

Nice to see her appreciating the effort they put in to keep her alive.

If you are admitted to hospital for treatment where you are at fault and it is alcohol related, slap a £100 surcharge on it to go straight back in the NHS kitty.

If on benefits, deduct it in stages and at source.

Harsh to some but fair on the taxpayer.

If your under the legal drinking age and require medical treatment for anything that happens to you because you were drunk your parents should be handed the bill.

No, people are abusing it, would you rather see the quality of health care go down so everyone can have it for free, imagine a family member was in a car crash on a Friday night and you was in the hospital waiting and you saw drunk after drunk coming in screaming for medical attention, they get stretched at night it only takes a couple of non drink related emergencies and they are short staffed.

I am all for free health care we dont want to go the way of the US but abusing something it just taking the mick.

Plus I have been drinking and going out since I was 18 and never once needed to visit A&E. So if anything I am due some of my taxes and NI back from your logic of thinking for not using the NHS.

thought it was good to see them not give up on the cpr after the ketamine mix-up, reckon they'd been there all night trying. wondering how long in that safe environment they can do cpr for? is there a time limit? they seemed to be at it for about 8 mins the first time and every 2 mins a quick assessment then back with cpr.

Thats about how the adult ALS (advanced life support) go, see here for details. Length of effort depends on circumstances, how correctable the causes are and the patient (a 20 year old is more likely to get a rhythm back than a 90 year old).

Whilst I don't think that people should be dragged in drunk to be patched up (and some of the people on that program should be sterilised), I don't think they showed all the other users and abusers of the system, that cost the NHS vast sums of money. Its a fact that people (in general) expect far to much from the NHS and whilst teenagers are one (easy to blame) group, there are many people who have self inflicted illness (whether it be short term onset or long term, including type 2 diabetics, patients with CHD, liver cirrhosis etc.) that cost the NHS far more each day. But seeing as that program was aimed at self righteous daily mail readers, it was about par for the course.

Anyone watching this, I say people who are drunk have to pay for their treatment, would make people think again before going out drinking like fish.

Some shocking scenes, we are all young once but what the hell are teenagers and adults thinking.

I would say no, what if you are drunk and you get attacked, you are saying the drunk person should pay for the treatment?

I agree that people are abusing it. Also people are far too eager to take themselves or their kids to ER when the local GP would have done (my boss always takes his children to ER and never calls out the doctor "just to be on the safe side")

However, my point still stands which is where do you draw the line? You can't just pick on self induced drunks IMO.
