Hi,
I have an Mountain Bike that I would like to put some tyres on suitable for road use.

The tyre size on the bike at present is 26 x 2.35, can someone reccomend some road tyres? Also what is the correct size to use?

Thanks

Tim

Another vote for the Travel Contact here. Super fast rolling, virtually silent and they really help your general road speed. I've never had a puncture despite having to ride over broken glass on a regular basis.

My only dislike is that I find it a bit more difficult to corner hard at speed. At the speeds you soon find yourself hitting, transferring weight over to the knobbly edges can feel quite unstable.

I use Continental Sport Contact 26x1.3" tyres on my MTB. They are swift and really grippy. I would certainly not go down to a 26x1" tyre on MTB rims.

Anything cheaper?
I've only cycled to work for the first time today. and don't want to start spending too much on my bike until i make it something regular.
But the MTB tyres are definitely no fun on the roads.

I've also had Schwalbe City Jets. Really can't argue with them for the price.
I had some 1.5" City Jet's before the Continentals. They are just a quick in a straight line, but I found they had quite a funny profile which didn't inspire confidence when cornering. The Continentals are much more rounded in profile so there is a nice progressive feeling when leaning the bike over. The Schwalbe's seemed to be on a knife edge.

My dad has Conti Double Fighter II's on his Scott hybrid, they're 700mm x 42mm. Very good tyres, it's a versatile bike in general.
